I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

Currently I have tried many methods to try and pay off the phone today when my status changed on WM to "on the way" all pointing to waiting 30 days or when the first months bill generates. (CS #3 Prepayment, forced buy-out, supervisors, chat, calls). You can get a VZ account without a phone# or account# just a general account. But you need a active phone# in order to link. My guess is that when they are getting ready to ship out the phone, they need to pair your account/phone# with a IMEI device. It seems they will have activated using eSIM method so maybe already activated starting the date you get the FedEx tracking # which coincides with VZ recognizing your phone# from customer service end. This is when you can log in and link your account. Once linked, you will be able to do a chat while logged in. Pay off option from website tells me I can only pay off 12/9 a month after my activation date. The link from the chat to the pay off also just refers to the same.

In one of my many chat sessions, the CS mentioned that I could just cancel the account now and keep the device. When the account closes you won't have access to the web linked account but you will receive a bill which i would assume is for the pay off $399 (I got the 256GB version).

The plan from some suggestions in other posts: when I get my phone tomorrow i'm going to try another round of getting pay off. Deactivation/cancel seems to be the easiest part but is best after pay off is complete. I'm going to add CC on the account and maybe turn on autopay (not sure if necessary) so as a backup plan once phone in hand and activated I will just cancel account and let the card pay off the phone after since it seems from my chat they will NOT ask for the phone back even if you cancel before you pay off.

So in both ATT and VZN cases, you will need to call them to cancel the new line? I got a new line from VZN and another new line from ATT. Can someone confirm or if there is a quicker way?

It is time for me to contribute to this community.
To pay off the phone for VZ, you don't really need to talk to any agent.
Just follow the following steps
1. Add credit card you want to pay to the online account for autopay
2. Dial 611, and ask for agent (not sure whether you have to do that), then the bot will ask you specific details. You just say "pay off device"
3. The bot will say something like he can help, and then just let him proceed. He will confirm the account and the credit you will use.
4. Then you are all done.

I chatted with several agents today, and I got even confirmation saying the device was paid off, but it was not. Finally I figured out an easy way.
Thanks for saving me a trip to their store lol I got the payment confirmation after following your steps...am I good to call them to cancel the line or do I have to activate it first? My phone will arrive tomorrow.

typically porting out will automatically terminate the account. If you want to keep the # a method I have tried using Tmobile is to have an existing line or add a new line first to receiving account. If new line just have a temporary provided phone# and then request them to port in the # into that same line as a replacement. Same idea for existing line that you want to change out. Some carrier require a PIN for the account (which you would have created when ordering from WM on the verizon portal or ATT) and some carrier may require both names to be the same.

All I did was change my email and phone number. I think because I used Verizon in the past with the number I entered so it must've triggered something, I just used a Google Voice number and it let me through.
Tried to change my email and phone twice. No luck.

How did you link your online account and VZ number?

I created a new account when I made my purchase and then linked the phone number from my account like few hours ago.

My phone is arriving Saturday, and I would like to know if the following plan works well with Verizon. Thanks!
1. I'm considering to not paying the phone in advanced before the phone arrives.
2. Try to pay off device after the phone arrives on Saturday.
3. If customer service won't let me pay off the phone, I would consider directly canceling the line.
4. Based on some of the comments, it seems that you will also get the full $299 bill if you directly canceling the line without paying off first. This seems to be an alternative way of paying off the phone. Are there any catches going this route?
5. When I cancel the line, how would I assure I am not being charged with $35 activation fee if I cancel within 3 days, will the customer service confirm that?
Thanks for all the help!

For those who'd like to pay off the device through the bot, here is what I did:

0. Add credit card account to your Auto Pay payment method.
1. If you haven't received the cellphone, that's okay, just call 8008374966
2. The bot is going to repeat your cell number that is calling from and asking if this is number you are calling about, you can just say no.
3. Then the bot will let you enter the new Verizon phone number.
4. Since I'm calling during out of business hour, the bot is going to help me out and ask for the Pin.
5. The bot is going to let you describe what you are calling about "in one or two sentences"
6. I just said "I'd like to pay off the deivce"
7. The bot said "Alright I can help" and then is going to confirm pay off details including the amount of the dollar and the credit card you are going to use.
8. You simply say Yes and it is done! I received the email immediately.

Alright guys. I am able to get everything done before the Verizon phone arrives tomorrow.
Looks like the new number is activated once Walmart ships it. I created my Verizon account when I made my purchase and it wouldn't let me link the phone number at that time, but the linking was successful earlier tonight. I chat with a Verizon online rep to confirm that my line was already activated before I preceded to cancel my new line.
I paid off the device by calling 18008374966 and asked the bot "pay off device" (credit goes to ldsp for figuring that out). Just try call them again if you can't get it to work the first time, maybe the bot just couldn't parse the command from your voice input. Make sure you enter a payment method on your account prior to the call. Once it is paid off, you should receive a payment confirmation email from them.
I used the online chat to ask them to cancel or disconnect my new line. The online rep also showed me the charges, including the prorated charges (11/9-11/10), govt fees and a $35 activation fee, total came out to be around $56. I told her that I am cancelling the line within 3 days so the activation fee should be waived off and she said she will make an exception to subtract the activation fee from the final amount, which comes out to be $14.22. The rep also mentioned that I will be charged the next month's bill in advance but it will be refunded back to me (not sure how that works though). At the end, the line was removed from my account before I even opened the new phone, maybe I will just put the unopened iphone13 in my drawer for 60 days Smilie

So the break down is $25.79 tax + $299.00 payoff + $14.22 VZN fees = $339.01

Good night everyone Smilie

I placed the order on Nov 8 and it's still showing status as 'Preparing'. Should I be concerned at this point? Estimated delivery date is shown as tomorrow 11/11.
