I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

Just got off phone with Verizon cs and tried to get my phone number since I didn't write it down at check out. She couldn't find any info on me with SSN, DOB, name, and address. I asked about when phone is activated since I ordered on 11/9 and may not get now til after 11/13 and this would be past 3 days. She said phone is not activated til I turn it on and go through the set up process on it. I hope she right.

Even if I could set up an account now, I don't think I wanna pay off until I get it. Don't know if phone will get lost or order cancelled while my wm status says Delayed.

When you get the phone immediately swap the sim to an old inactive AT&T sim, power on go through setup etc until it connects to network
Then go to AT&T unlock webpage and select don't have a number, input the IMEI, you'll get a confirmation email where you click confirm then it should unlock.
Make sure sim is inactive
Make sure not to power on with Verizon sim still in or it will lock to Verizon…
Before all that, when I got the phone, I don't turn it on, I have the Verizon number so I'll sign up the account with that then try paying off the phone first and cancel the service? I mean if I don't turn it on to activate the service, can I cancel the service?

I call Verizon to know my number, they tried with my SSN but couldn't find anything. But they were able to see my phone order and bill amount. I haven't received phone yet.

My question is, how would I know my new Verizon number without having phone in hand?
When I signed up on Walmart site (and/or through the Verizon Portal during signup) there was a part where it asked if you wanted to receive text message... my new phone number was listed there and I wrote it down. Unfortunately, they didn't send any sort of automated email with the new number listed.

Not sure how to get it, before your phone arrives, if they can't find it and you didn't save it during the order process.

Good luck!

I got a new VZN number. An email is sent to the one I used when place the order for the phone. Following the link in that VZN email, I set up the account using the email I used for the order. Then link the assigned VZN#. Until then you'll see all the information associated with the number including the device you ordered. The phone number is on the loan agreement if you have saved a copy.

What is the basic difference ease/benefit in ordering phone from Verizon vs ATT?

The link sent by Verizon assistant had the same message for me as well. If you call after business hours, as stated in a reply above, and state to the bot that you would like to payoff device, bot would then read back the balance and the last 4 of the credit card for payment. When you confirm, bot would then complete the payment and email confirmation.

Verizon just said that payoff within 14 days has to be done in the store
Same... I just immediately called back. 2nd time I got a very helpful CS rep that happened to be overseas and was able to process the pay-off.

It took some time.

1. I just called 8008374966
2. The bot is going to repeat your cell number that is calling from and asking if this is number you are calling about, you can just say no.
3. Then the bot will let you enter the new Verizon phone number.
4.. The bot is going to let you describe what you are calling about "in one or two sentences"
5. I just said "I'd like to pay off the device"
6. I got transferred to a rep, after a warning that I would be charged $10 for using a live CS rep (I wasn't charged $10)
7. I told the CS Rep "I'd like to pay off the device". She asked two times, if I was sure...yes.
8. It took her a few minutes to figure out how to take payment (I assume she couldn't take credit card numbers over the phone).
9. I asked her to email me the link to follow for making the payment.
10. Got the email and entered my CC number. Actually it was not processed due to a Fraud Alert for my CC.
11. The CS Rep sent me another payment link, I used a different CC number and it went through (all real time while I was on the phone with her.)
12. Highly recommend talking to someone to take the CC payment, in case you CC is rejected for any reason. Talking to a live CS rep, you'll be able to provide a different CC, if necessary.

Good luck, and keep calling back until you get a CS rep that will take full device payment today.

I am sure its buried in this long ass thread but I would like to know too.... I ordered tonight , have the correct phone number I think but can't associate with my Verizon online account I created
If you do ATT sim unlock trick you do it by ordering the phone with a Verizon plan, if you order with the ATT plan, you will have an installment agreement with ATT and they wont unlock even if you pay it off - there is a different trick mentioned for ATT ordered phones in the wiki
Why? Are you sure this is necessary?
Its explained on the same page or one page back and I think in thread wiki too - read
No, if it locks to ATT , ATT has to unlock it. You have to be persistent with ATT until they unlock it or trade in the phone towards a new phone or flip it or use with an ATT service
So even with inactive sim (i.e. sim with no ATT service), if the unlock request fails, this phone still locks to ATT?

I see, look like the 3 days start when you activate the phone.
What is your definition of activate? When you purchased or When it shipped or When you received or When sim card was inserted inside?

i think for AT&T,it is from the time you turn on the phone and go through the activation process. The only risk with ATT is they don't prorate, so if you are over 3-day window you still have to pay activation fees + monthly fees.

Thanks for the info - I contacted them and they said they would refund the difference. Have you seen your refund yet?
Good to hear that they got it sorted for you. No, I have not received the refund/adjustment yet, but they said it should be there within 7 business days (by 11/17).

I ordered the phone last night but haven't received an email from VZW yet, does it come after the phone is shipped? I also wasn't able to link my account with the new #, kept getting errors. Is the transaction ID on the loan agreement also the order #?

I got that email too, but when I called Verizon, they still can't locate my account or tell me my verizon wireless phone number. what did you do with this email?
