I received iPhone 13 today from walmart..
After inserting the SIM card and activating it, I chatted with Verizon.
The first agent refused the payoff and said it would be possible in 14 days.
The second agent sent me the URL right away and I paid $299.
Then I cancel line. I need 60days for unlock.

I tried to do it with an iPhone 14 in walmart.com when I saw this deal. It asked me to login to my Verizon (I'm with vzn), and asked for permission to pull credit. I declined. I think anything with a payment plan will need a credit check.

Though this is 36 months contract , but once you activate the line, you can pay off it via chat rep or in cash in verizon store . Once phone is paid , you can cancel the line with in 3 days to avoid activation / upgrade fees. Wait for 60 days to unlock the device.

THIS IS NOT MONTHLY CREDITS. AMOUNT FINANCED will be $299 or $99 , depends which phone you select.

I had 2 phone delivered today, I paid them both off this morning.

I activated both with the same, old, AT&T sim.

I did the, "Unlock your device", on both phones. Got 2nd confirmation emails.

After unlock, I put in a good AT&T sim card into both phones to ensure I could make and receive calls. (ie. unlocked)

Started the process to cancel Verizon service on both phones.

Ran into a bit of a run around when I called up Verizon tonight to cancel both phones (separately).

Called 800-837-4966

1st number - got transferred to CS Rep. from the robot when I said, I want to cancel my service. She said I could cancel immediately, but would be charged ~$100 (activation + 1 month of service + taxes). I said this wasn't acceptable and wanted the "Verizon worry Guarantee or Satisfaction Guarantee". She pushed back and and I aske to speak to her supervisor. On hold for 4 minutes, she came back and said she talked to the supervisor and "this time only" they would cancel at no charge ($0). Yay!

1st number - got transferred to CS Rep. from the robot when I said, I want to cancel my service. She said I could cancel immediately, but would be charged ~$13.13. I wasn't in the mood to argue and accepted.

Bottom line, folks probably should push back if you are cancelling in < 3 days and they're charging you more than ~$20.

Good luck everyone!
Thank you, pay off first phone purchased in store today, place order online for second phone, est delivery 17th, is OK within 3 day cancel rule? I'm plan cancel first line either second line show up or on Monday.

I was checking documents on myVerizon app and found a document that states that my device activation was done on 11/10. It is the date that my Walmart order was marked shipped. I haven't received my device yet.

Same here. Order was placed on 11/8/23 and currently the phone is in transit and ETA is shown as 11/12/23. The Activation document in the app shows the dates as 11/10/23. So if I pay it off and cancel by 11/13/23 (11/10/23+3 days), it should be fine without getting the Activation charges billed. Is this understanding correct..? Anyone else also in the same boat..?

So here is my total journey for ATT network only.
11/8 Order 2 iphone 13 from walmart
11/9 walmart show preparing and expect delivery day 11/11.
11/10 Walmart update tracking number for the 1st iphone. This is when 1st phone show up on MyATT portal. Paid off the 1st phone.
11/11 Walmart update tracking nuumber for the 2nd phone. this is when 2nd phone number show up on MyATT portal. Paid off 2nd phone.
  • call CS and the rep ensure that both the phone is activated.
  • request unlock, the rep try to process it but couldnt go through because it need 48hr after paid off the phone. and schedule to call me back in 2 day to process the unlock.
  1. This is what i find out, the 3 days cancelation start from the time you turn on the phone and go through activation process.
  2. If you decide to pay off the phone before receive it, Once the system show it paid off, it will automatically activate it with the system and the 3-days coundown starting from there. i verifed this with 3 CS.my 1st phone show activation on 10 and second on the 11 so you shouldnt pay off the phone now and should wait till you receive it and go thru the activation process.
  3. technically i can call CS and cancel the line now since its already active while i m still waiting on the phone.
Both of the phones will arrive tomorrow. Anyone have ATT and you already paid but still waiting for it arrival ?
or who already received the phone, paid it off and canceled the services. does the unlock request go through?

I'll answer my question... To pay off my iPhone 13 (VZW) device, I followed these steps posted earlier. I received a confirmation number at the end of the phone call and I immediately received an email with the payoff details.

For those who'd like to pay off the device through the bot, here is what I did:

0. Add credit card account to your Auto Pay payment method.
1. If you haven't received the cellphone, that's okay, just call 8008374966
2. The bot is going to repeat your cell number that is calling from and asking if this is number you are calling about, you can just say no.
3. Then the bot will let you enter the new Verizon phone number.
4. Since I'm calling during out of business hour, the bot is going to help me out and ask for the Pin.
5. The bot is going to let you describe what you are calling about "in one or two sentences"
6. I just said "I'd like to pay off the deivce"
7. The bot said "Alright I can help" and then is going to confirm pay off details including the amount of the dollar and the credit card you are going to use.
8. You simply say Yes and it is done! I received the email immediately.

Are you all paying off the device first and then cancelling separately? Or are you just cancelling, and then paying off the device in the final bill?

After paying off the device, I logged into my Verizon account and cancelled my line via Online Chat. It took a little bit to cancel. The rep tried to get 1 month out of me, saying that my number would cease working on 12/8. I held firm and stated that I needed cancellation to be effective immediately, i.e. today 11/11/2023. She confirmed that cancellation would occur today. I received a Disconnect Order ID, per my request, after she cancelled the line. She confirmed that I will receive an email at some point. I am now NOT able to log into my Verizon Wireless account anymore (I only had the 1 line), so it appears as though my line has been disconnected. I may have to fight for the activation fee returned. Let's see what happens when I receive my final bill.

BTW, one thing I wanted to include, after paying off my device and before I cancelled the line, I was reviewing my Bill History in my VZW account. My "Activation" date was yesterday 11/10/2023. The iPhone was delivered today 11/11/2023. I NEVER installed the provided VZW sim into the iPhone. I only did the ATT unlock trick (using an AT7T prepaid sim). So, at least in my example, it does not appear that WMT/VZ is activating the phone at point-of-sale. Maybe yesterday is when it shipped? I ordered on Wednesday after 12:00 pm EST.

So just to confirm. You booted phone #1 with att sim and did the unlock with them and then popped out the sim and put it into phone #2. Then boot and unlock with att again with same sim?
yes, 100% same sim. I went through the whole unlock process with the first sim in the 1st phone, then swapped sim into phone #2 after #1 was confirmed unlocked.

I bought the Verizon phone and still waiting for delivery. I see some people are cancelling service now before paying off the phone. I guess this is to make sure within the 3 days. This is what I'm planning to do so please tell me if wrong.

1. Insert H20 sim into the verizon iPhone
2. Do the att unlock trick.
3. Put in my T-Mobile sim into iPhone to make sure it is unlocked.
4. Call Verizon to cancel service.
5. Bill should generate automatically for me to pay $300

Just FYI, I got my ATT phone, I checked actually before I put in sim card, it is flex 4000 lock policy. Also it seems it's very old stock, the ios is still on 15.1.1, not sure if this is attractive to somebody

I can confirm the AT&T trick is working with a Verizon phone. It doesn't matter whats going on with your Verizon account. Paid off, not paid off, no account, canceled or not. This is concerning your DEVICE. You should pay the $299 as soon as you can find someone to take payment lol and cancel your line to stop the prorated monthly charges.

1. Under no circumstance, do NOT put the Verizon sim card into the phone unless you want a 60 day lock.
2. Ok lets free our
minds devices. I bought a AT&T prepaid card from walmart for $10.
3. First phone boot was with the AT&T card. In settings, about device showed sim locked.
4. Visit https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/ and click "start an unlock request"
5. Choose no mobile number from AT&T and enter the IMEI from setting, about. Don't enter the IMEI2 which is for your phones esim.
6. Check your email & junk folder to click link from email to "confirm your request". I got email nearly immediately that my unlock was approved.
7. Now reset the phone. I left the AT&T sim in it. Now the phone shows no sim restrictions. Note you might not have to do the reset. I read that just changing the sim should cause the phone to show no sim restriction but I reset mine.
8. Put whatever sim in it you would like.
9. I actually bought a 2nd phone that is still in the mail so I plan to try to reuse the same sim though I'm not sure if it will work.
is this not considered as fraud...from att side...just asking...and this trick is for verizon phone..right?

dont you think that we should try this before we cancel the verizon account so that even if something goes wrong then at least verizon 60 days thing is there to unlock it/

What information did you give csr? I tried couples of time but none of them can find my account no or new phone no. I gave them the ssn but they couldn't find my account
I had same situation. Then I provided the phone number I left when I placed order in Walmart. Then Verizon CS found my record and told me my Verizon phone number
