It's back! Limited Time Offer!
Your points are worth 10%-50% more
Until 11/30/23 or while supplies last, your Chase points are worth more when you redeem for any product on the AppleĀ® Ultimate RewardsĀ® Store.*
Chase Sapphire Preferred is 25% more.
Chase Freedom Unlimited is 10% more.

For example:
The $1199 iPhone Prom Max is 79,900 points (plus tax if applicable) if you have the Reserve (so retail * 66.7 points). Effectively 1/3 off at a penny per point.
If you have a card with a $99 ish annual fee, I suspect you get 25% extra (so retail * 80 points). Effectively 20% off at a penny per point.
If you have a no-annual-fee card, you likely get 10% extra (so retail * 91 points). About 9% off at a penny per point.

Also worth noting you get extended warranty and purchase protection when you pay with points (you don't when you pay with gift cards).

I used points to purchase hotel stay. I didn't receive points from the hotel program and they told it's because I purchased the ticket from a 3rd party site and is a special rate.
They won't understand this is essentially purchasing the phone at full retail. They think they are getting 50%. This logic will also conclude that any UR portal redemption using UR at 1.5 ccp is a Frontpage deal (of course not š). It is the same as just to use UR on any Chase travel portal bookings, not necessarily the imaginary first class you don't need or the Hyatt suite you never book, but just anything you can find on the UR portal, at regular price. Yet they still feel so great about redeeming at 1.5 on this fantastic deal, while they always have the power to redeem anything at 1.5 as CSR holders for full retail price.
Anyway, this is the point why this thread is so hilarious and they keep downvoting you if you keep talking. I thought this forum exists because people help each other understanding which is good deal and which is not.
Yes, you may get higher value by transferring your points out to other partners and booking airfare or hotel stays, but that's not even what you're talking about anymore.
This deal is still a deal, its better than the normal redemption ratio. Its an option, but hes doing good comparing it to whats typically available. His original message:
So just be aware that if you're looking for the best points to cash ratio, this isn't the best available.

The problem of this redemption is not the 1.5 cpp guaranteed value itself, it's the full retail price of the Apple product you are buying, while you likely at least can find a little something elsewhere even if you desperately need an iPhone this year.
You as a CSR holder can always redeem whatever you find on the UR portal, hotel, car, flight, doesn't have to be fancy rare to find first class, at 1.5 cpp guaranteed. However, after you realize that, you will find yourself buying the full price iPhone for the value of 1.5, which is always the UR value you can get as a CSR holder.
Some people in this thread however would tell you that you have the right to redeem this way since you "need an iPhone now." Some other people will tell you there is a language trick in this "deal." Your own choice, of course.

The problem with the UR Travel Portal is that it sucks and is mostly overpriced (the same issue you keep trying to make about the iPhone⦠I think?). Real example⦠I was looking for a weeklong rental car. Best I could find on the Portal was ~$600. Same week, same category of car, was $400 through Costco Travel and $250 direct from Hertz using their "Manager Special". Are you suggesting I should have booked the $600 car on the Portal with my UR points at 1.5? Seems like that would be far far worse than buying the $1200 iPhone which is $1200 everywhere else using the same 1.5 redemption.
does the phone even work??
In the past, the sweet spots for "savers" were multi-city overseas trips in economy. You were able to visit a couple places for 60K points at high season getting 4+cpp. Unfortunately, recent travel programs devaluation killed it. It becomes harder and harder to find good travel deals unless you are very flexible with the dates. But I still think 1.5cpp is very low if you travel. Especially, considering that you can find Apple products at discount to begin with.
Hopefully this goes better.
Hopefully this goes better.
I bought AirPods Max with points in 2020 and they took about a week to get here. So it may depend on stock or just how someone is feeling that day.
Hopefully this goes better.
