It's back! Limited Time Offer!
Your points are worth 10%-50% more

Chase Freedom Unlimited is 10% more.

For example:

The $1199 iPhone Prom Max is 79,900 points (plus tax if applicable) if you have the Reserve (so retail * 66.7 points). Effectively 1/3 off at a penny per point.

If you have a card with a $99 ish annual fee, I suspect you get 25% extra (so retail * 80 points). Effectively 20% off at a penny per point.

If you have a no-annual-fee card, you likely get 10% extra (so retail * 91 points). About 9% off at a penny per point.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

But what if you aren't traveling much and need a new iPhone? Not everyone is looking for a 4 cent pp redemption on a round trip business class flight to Zimbabwe. Why not buy airline gift cards when they go on sale? (Like the recent Southwest cards at Costco).

Also worth noting you get extended warranty and purchase protection when you pay with points (you don't when you pay with gift cards).
You are really better off buying apple gift cards when they have promos or Amex offers to buy Apple giftcards for 20% to 25% off and using the UR points for travel to maximize the value.
I can get an iphone 15 pro for 66,600 points ($660 cash value points)

tempting

What are you spending 300-400k chase points annually on, that isn't travel, that makes a $550 annual fee make sense?

(also what spend/cards are you using to generate 300-400k annually? Max from a Freedom bonus categories is 30k a year- so only thing I can think of is you're running both a couple of those plus running another 50k through one of the less-easy-to-spend-a-ton-on 5x business categories on an Ink card-- that'd, just, get you to 300k if you max the 50k spend limit in say Office Supplies or something)

If you already have CSP you can't get the CSR until you cancel or downgrade it (and wait a bit)-- you also can't get the CSR bonus unless it's been at least 48 months since you got your CSP bonus.

Lastly there's NO need at all to burn the CSP points now.

Either transfer them to a difference chase UR card if you have one, or simply downgrade your CSP to one of the free cards (a Freedom Flex will be the best option for most, offering 5x UR on quarterly rotating categories up to 7500 points per quarter). Then when you get the CSR you can move the points over to it and get higher value for said points.
Did they change the rule again? Last time it was 2yr (24month) , is the wait 48month now? I should cancel mine after this one.

Gracias. That's what I needed to know. The Reserve card seems to offer some enticing options. Thanks again.
Watch others comments later. My experience was 2yr wait, but I saw someone mentioning 48month wait, not sure if thats a new rule. But general info is still accurate.

Peace I may very well cancel soon. I think I still have aprox 1 year to burn the points after I cancel. I'll keep and eye out.

After cancellation you need to wait 2yrs to reapply for any sapphire card to be eligible for bonus, so you cannot actually cancel and reapply in hope to receive the bonus. You need to cancel as soon as you can so the 2yr comes sooner.
It's actually 48 month from the time of last bonus. When you cancel has nothing to do with it.

It's been 48 months since at least 2018-

Again though it's 48mo since you last received a sapphire bonus- NOT 48 months since you cancelled the card.

Also usually better to downgrade to a useful free card instead of cancel.

What are you guys doing for travel that makes it a better deal to use UR on?
Last airfare I used points on was 88k points for a business class roundtrip to Japan- (ANA The Room from JFK to HND, then return was biz HND to LAX) which was a $7000 cash ticket.

Seems a better use of points than a $1200 iphone if you're someone who plans to obtain both things.

(disclaimer- this was Amex points since airline was ANA, but you can similarly get huge outsized values on biz/first class tickets with Chase UR booking through Chase airline partners)... or simply 2-2.5c a point on Hyatts via transfers versus 1.25-1.5c with the portal or this offer depending which card you have- and even coach fares will usually beat 1.25c for CSP/ink preferred holders (though might be closer for CSR holders).

Quote from MemorableChannel766 :
Just took a look at hotels through chase rewards program and it is 25% cheaper to use points than cash. How is that more point efficiency than 25% off an iPhone?
It's not- but that's also not the ideal way to use points for travel.

Transfer them direct to Hyatt and you'll get 2-2.5 cents a point pretty trivially - and usually better than at least the 1.25 cents you're getting your way even for coach airline transfers.

Oh and I suppose TECHNICALLY the portal is STILL better than this deal in that if you book an airline ticket via the portal the airline treats it as a cash booking- so you earn miles for the ticket- while you don't (AFAIK) earn anything with apple for using points to buy a phone.

that's not correct though. Waiting xx months after cancelling a card has never been a Chase rule. What their rule does say is that for the Sapphire cards, you have to wait 48 months after the last time you got the signup bonus on a previous Sapphire card.

Mmm. Interesting. If I understand you correctly, I may be able to cancel and sign for the Reserve card shortly after.
I'm going to have to call in and get the requirements from the horse's mouth. Thank you!

Booking hotels and airfare through Chase portal will give you a nice discount. However, some of the prices are higher than booking directly through hotel/airline sites.

The big savings can be attained by transferring points to partner programs. For example, a room at the Maui Hyatt Regency usually runs around $700 or 25K points. I confirm hotel availability with points and then transfer the Chase points to Hyatt loyalty program (1:1 ratio) for booking. 45K points can get me a $1800 room at Park Hyatt Vendome Paris. 35K points can get me a $1300 room at Grand Hyatt Vail.

Same idea for business/first class tickets. It requires much more planning but can also be purchased by transferring to partner airlines.

Some people may find this wasteful, but I enjoy these luxuries.

I literally just came back from 2 days stay at Alila Ventana Big Sur, booked with only 90k UR transferred to Hyatt. This is a $3000/night hotel.

Placed order for iPhone 15 512GB on Nov 2 at 12pm. At that time estimated shipment was 2 to 6 days. Received shipment notification today with delivery date of tomorrow. Was a little worried about shipment delay reading other comments but looks like they are delivering as promised.

So how flexible were those dates? Was it like a last minute deal or were you able to book in advance ? Thanks

Ordered mine on November 2, and received a 6-8 week delivery window. That hasn't budged. Was hoping for some of y'all's good fortune, but doesn't look like I'll get any.

I ordered a 512GB iPhone 15 Pro in Black Titanium.

I think sharing what you ordered will help folks get more data on timelines. Different devices probably have different stock (and demand) levels.

I ordered IPhone 15 Pro max 256 GB natural titanium on Nov 5th and estimated shipping shows 11/27. Initially, it was showing 4-5 weeks estimate
