Regardless if one has had a bad experience with Samsung appliances in past this is a tested reliable and quality fridge and get an additional 2% "rewards cash back" with Costco membership and another 2% by using Costco Citi Visa card. Free delivery and haul away. The extra $300 (included in price above) and lowered price only good this month while supplies last.
Best buy had this same fridge for $1899 and it sold out rather fast.
At a potential price of less than $1700 excluding taxes (in total with ~ $34 in Costco cash back) it can be a decent deal if it matches your needs.

All the complaints I have heard about Samsung relate to the ice maker. Any fridge from any brand with that style of ice maker on the door will have the same issue. It's design error. Samsung's compressor is bullet proof and has 10 years warranty. This style of fridge has the ice maker in the freezer, where it's supposed to be. I would buy this in a heart beat if my fridge isn't working perfectly fine.

P.S. Yes you do need to replace the compressor fan on the bottom of the fridge when it goes bad after 4-5 years. 5 minutes work for a $40 part, maybe occasionally vacuuming the accumulated dust on the cooling fins.

Design of the fridge SUCKS.

Doors does NOT open 180degrees needing more free space in the front of the fridge.

Door shelf position isn't very flexible and the lip is SO high that it isn't very convenient.

The regular shelves are not designed to trap liquid so if you spill anything on top shelf, it will trickle down to bottom shelf and removing glass from bottom shelf isn't easy either (almost feels like you have to break the plastic frame to get the glass out and if you don't take glass out, then liquid will still be trapped under the glass).

My 15yr old GE fridge had liquid trapping glass shelf so this is backwards for a refrigerator that is considered "premium".

Have a similar model and we love it. Ours has the middle drawer and the beverage center. The beverage center is great. No problems with the ice maker so far. I think they changed the design on the ice maker for these models.

another very common complaint is about their frozen defrost line. they seem to be a design flaw which they not interested in solving as part of their 'planned obsolesce'.samsung is high in technology but low on reliability. every single fridge repair man i had come cross (who came to fix my fridge) rolled up their eyes when they saw samsung brand.

I can concur, had a Samsung Washer and Dryer. It's absolute junk. It is so bad that I wouldn't even wish this on my worst enemy

Do not buy samsung appliances. The ice makers don't work, they don't hold temp, trash. Their washing machine shakes until it explodes, the fix they gave was a sticker that hid heavy load function.

I own this fridge and it's amazing. Had it for two years and had zero problems. As others have noted, the icemaker being in the freezer instead of in the fridge solves a lot of problems people had with other Samsung fridges (and others who put the icemaker in the fridge).

This looks so nice and I'm tempted, but I had an LG refrigerator that's absolute junk, I don't want to risk it with another Korean fridge.

Received fridge last week and really happy with it thus far. I was waiting for this to price drop and $2000 was not a tempting price but around $1700 pre-tax I was willing to take a chance.
I used to have a French door fridge with pull out freezer on bottom and refused to get that type again. Having the extra doors for the freezer (1 or 2 compartment) was what I really wanted for easy access and less chance of ice layer developing as I did have under the pull out freezer.
The fridge portion is extremely roomy.
I chose this version over that with the Beverage center as the extra $300-400 wasn't truly necessary or worth it for me at this time.
Time will tell if this was a smart choice but thus far happy with the decision.

They discounted by another $100, so now it's 1949, is there a cheap $50 filler that qualifies?

Only a handful of items qualifying for the $300 off >$1999.99 that are in the $200 range - I requested the price adjustment - will see if they allow the adjustment without addl purchase.

I pulled the trigger on the one with the beverage center for $300 more. Stellar reviews. Hope it's good.

There are two fans, one smaller one inside the fridge and one is the condenser in the bottom of the fridge. For a loud whirring noise, most likely it's the condenser fan on the bottom.

Before you purchase the new fan, open the back of the fridge and check out the fan. Make sure it looks the same as the replacement, and verify that the noise is from that fan. You can also check to see if it's struggling to spin. Replace the fan before it fails will save you a lot of agony and money.

The evaporator fan inside the fridge won't make such a loud sound when it's failing, but just in case, it's this one, also easy replacement:
