The rim edge is bare not clear enamel like Le Creuset so be sure to season it to prevent rust. Oven safe to 450 F. Stove top low or medium low. Low and slow is also true for L.C. to prevent scorching. Utensils: Silicone or wood.

L.C. and Staub cast iron have long been known for thin strong lighter cast iron and superior enamel. L.C will eventually pop a tiny piece interior enamel if overheated but it could take years. No damage with Staub black enamel on my fry pan after 20 years and overheating many times.

China pots are known to chip and flake off interior enamel within weeks in some instances. Safety and durability is why pp pay $ for the French c.i. Read the one star reviews on costco.com.
