Been swapping for years. Basically just switch between parties at same location via different emails and can even use different CCs if you wish. Doesn't matter even if other party is second, just can't go primary party to primary party w/o it being a renewal or breaking the listed rules. Same applies to Sam's Club.
It can make it messy, but as long as you keep proof of the membership number it was purchased under, never been a problem. They don't say can't return just because your membership is expired and don't have to have a current one to return stuff. Pro tip: Take pictures of reciepts as they often fade and while it isn't a big deal if bought under current membership, it makes it difficult if you do get new number every 12-18 months.
Tell me more. 1. how does it work at the counter since it asks for membership card at the start? 2. say I have $100 worth of cash card and want to buy something worth $125, how does that work?
I did this method many years ago and from what I remember you need the entire purchase on the gift card and using it without a membership is a bit of a hassle as the cashier needs a manager override so you might hold up the line for a minute for the manager to come swipe their card.
I see two different coupon codes available that gives the same $40 off the membership which we can apply it directly on Costco website. This way we can avoid the tax that StackSocial is charging.
I saw these codes from groupon and offers.com. Promo Codes are CJGRPMKT and CJOFFERS.
Any expert opinion whether to use these codes vs signing up thru StackSocial?
Does costco have scan and go like Sam's? I don't like waiting in lines to checkout.
Is that something you are scanning on your phone and then checking out the store or more like a self checkout? The Self Checkout option is there but sadly that also had lines and when I stopped over in NJ that line reach the end of the store lol but I guess it moves faster....
FWIW I am not going to renew my membership this weekend when it expires. I have many outlets here to shop at as a 1 person household and don't see any benefit to CC. Prices on sale items at other places are better than CC if U are willing to shop around. Other than cheap rotisserie chicken and their hot dogs + drink, no attraction for me otherwise.
I'll go to BJ-s if they have a deal on a cheapo plan just for the sake of trying them.
Trying to get CC to renew with this deal just does not seem worth the hassle.
Kinda late but BJs has a few Facebook offers (look here on SD) to join for $20 and get$20 in BJs promo back and I was able to get it in 3 days despite being a second named member on Family membership. I also combined the Amex deal for spend $55 and get $30 back.

Gift card doesn't need to cover entire purchase. Can use any visa to cover the remaining

You just tell the cashier you don't have a membership and will be paying eith a Cash Card. They will call for a supervisor to come and enter a code number into the register and you can then proceed with your transaction. If your Cash Card doesn't have enough money on it to cover your entire purchase, you can pay for the remainder of it with your debit card. Sometimes they will let you pay by credit card, but often I am asked to pay by debit card. You cannot use the self checkouts if you don't have a membership nor can you use the cafe to buy pizzas or hot dogs snd drinks, or anything else there for that matter.

A Heads Up:
Recent Reviews on Trust Pilot for Stack Social have had a theme of various issues with their initial promos
and common back and forth with customer service to find a solution.
If I had to predict with this promo, i'm guessing they will make you wait for the full 2 weeks for a digital shop card
and if you don't receive it then it's up to you to get it resolved.
I've tried a few times to use the code at online checkout, and it keeps saying "Sorry, we are experiencing technical issues. Please try again later." Is anyone else having this problem?
I bought this deal through the iDrop News Store. Not sure if they're affiliated with Stack Social but it was the same $60 membership with a $40 digital gift card. I kept trying the code they emailed me and continually ran into that same error message, so I ended up calling Costco customer service. The rep was very friendly and was actually surprised that the gift card was now $40 (guess it had recently only been for $30). The code I got was valid and she was able to get my membership started. She also said that their computer system had been having issues recently, so that also might account for the error. Unless you're okay with continuing to try using the code online I'd suggest you give Costco a call.
After reading some of the issues with previous membership being a problem, I logged out and created a new Costco account online with a different email before I clicked redemption. Everything worked fine.
