I purchased this tablet when it first went on sale last week - it came in on Monday and I've been messing around with it for the past few days. Figured I would post my impressions/experiences here for anyone considering the purchase.

TL;DR - Unless you're a power user (you know who you are), this is more than enough tablet for anything you would ever want to do with it. The hardware is great bang for your buck, and maybe impossible to beat at this price. However, the software modifications from Lenovo, as well as the limitations of Android itself, mean that true multi-window multitasking is still janky as hell, so I would not recommend it if that is something that is important to you.

-----------------------

In more words:

The hardware is amazing for the price. The ~13" display on this thing is great and actually offers a different-enough experience from using a phone to justify the tablet's existence - something that I don't really think can be said for the plethora of ~10" options at this price point. The screen is an LCD (not OLED), so there is color shift when looking at this from an angle, and even at the edges of the screen when looking at it straight on (due to its sheer size). However, when in use and not just pixel peeping, it's really not something I personally notice, and is a fair tradeoff for not having to worry about OLED burn-in (at least, for me). It's "only" 60Hz, but for 95% of users (and probably 99% of use cases for the other 5%), that's enough.

The processor, while maybe not top-of-the-line, bleeding-edge, is again "fast enough" for anything 95% of people are going to do with it (the other 5%, you know who you are), and happily powers through general tasks without any hiccups. The 8GB of RAM on this model is the real unicorn here, and makes Android and any apps you have run happily and smoothly. The speakers are also a real highlight, and sound great.

The cameras are... well... cameras, but I'm not sure that's actually something folks really care about on a tablet.

The software running on this thing is Lenovo's customized version of Android (called "ZUI," I think). It's mostly stock, but does include some pretty low-level modifications to how Android handles multi-window multitasking, including how you actually navigate the core UI (think: the parts of the UI that stay the same regardless of the launcher). It's meant to bring stock Android's rather opaque multitasking features more to the forefront and make them more accessible and easier to use. In practice, though, it means you have to use the tablet the way Lenovo wants you to use it, and anyone who wants to try and customize things will quickly find that stuff starts to break quite spectacularly if you try to disable features or revert back to a closer-to-stock experience. Using a third party launcher is just... not really an option here. So prepare to learn some new hoops to jump through.

Sadly, despite Lenovo's efforts, multi-window multitasking is still a VERY bad experience on Android. It legitimately feels like a hack to use it - and not in a good way. Apps do not smoothly resize AT ALL, and most really do not like non-standard aspect ratios. Even something as basic as Google Maps ends up looking legitimately broken when in a 1:1 window. I am honestly surprised by how bad it is still in 2023. For me, it's to the point where I will honestly just entirely ignore/abandon this feature and just use all the apps full screen, multitasking just by switching back and forth between apps using gesture navigation (quite smooth thanks to the processor and ample RAM).

I could say more, but I think that's the main points and I'm bored of writing already (lol).

If I was a younger man with more interest/time to burn, I would look into trying to get stock Android up and running on this thing to get rid some of the Lenovo ZUI features that I will 100% never use. However, I'm kind of past the point in my life where I can burn away weeks of my time sitting in a dark room with a terminal window open trying to get things "just right," so it is what it is.

First, your kid is spoiled
No kid needs a s7+ level of tablet

Second, this would be a downgrade from the tab s7+, not sure why you'd make this change

If you don't mind the lack of global ROM, you can get the Chinese version of this tablet (that has english) which has a :
Snapdragon 870
USB 3.1 (4K video output)
144Hz display

It's called Lenovo Xiaoxin pad 12.7 (you can find it on aliexpress)
Do you have a link or seller name of someone who is credible? Thanks

I never bought any expensive stuff from AliExpress, is it safe to buy from there?
Normally you can pay with Paypal.
I've done a couple of more expensive purchases on Aliexpress and never had any issue (mostly check the seller reviews, amount of sales, subscribed people).
Though once I did have an issue on 2 air quality monitors (that ended up being used and one partially broken), the seller didn't have many reviews, etc. He offered a partial refund but I wasn't interested and ended up letting too much time pass for Aliexpress to intervene and the store closed.

So it's always good to check the seller

Purchased this with the keyboard to replace my wife's Tab A8. Just went to Best Buy to see the screen in person and it looks great for the price. Ended up being about 312 after tax. Used coupon code EXTRA5 for 16 off and extra 15.20 off for being medical professional.
how'd you get the medical discount?

It worked for me. I used a throwaway spam email to sign up and the code just popped up at the top of the screen ready for copy/paste. Didn't even have to wait. Entered both codes, tablet shipped and is arriving next Wednesday according to tracking. Used 10% back on a cash rebate site, too.
No matter what I did, it did not stack up for me. So had to order with EXTRA5

I jumped on for the P11 gen 2. Came out to 203 with tax. Used email code and EXTRA5. Maybe I should have spent the extra 60 for the bigger screen. But it might be TOO big. This will be for board game nights, and occasional travel.

IMHO that's a very bad deal. For the 60 extra you get a bigger screen, 4GB more RAM, double the storage, and the precision pen which costs $40 on a good day.

If you still insist on those specs and do not see the use for more RAM and the like then go for the M10 Plus. It has 4GB with 128GB storage for $165 including tax. Was available for $139 a couple of weeks ago.

I bought a P11 Pro (2nd Gen) and it's been amazing. I paired it with the keyboard cover and it works so nicely as a laptop for when I'm traveling. I just VPN into my work network and remote desktop to my computer at work. No need to lug around a laptop.

I already cancelled the order and ordered the p12. Hahaha

I didn't do it for the specs though. Saw the screens in person at work side by side. Ooooh I want that big screen. Came out to 264.

Does anyone know if this tablet is powerful enough to do PS2 emulation with PCSX2? I'm looking for feedback form someone who has actually done it.

Was waiting for a large iPad deal, mainly for use of Google classroom. This being 12.7 at $243 compared to $800 for iPad 12.9 is a no brainer
