Great price for a stereophile receiver! It's a dated product but will be serviceable for years to come. Unless you want 8k video or more than 2 subwoofers, this is huge discount and I'd be all over it but my Denon 4500 is still going strong!

Back in the '50s & well into the '60s, Marantz had premium audio equipment. Their receivers were very popular and relatively affordable, costing maybe something north of $300. for a 40 watt per channel receiver, which I purchased (and that wasn't chicken feed for a young fellow). Then, Saul Marantz sold the company somewhere in the mid or late '60s and not too long afterwards they started cutting costs and degrading the quality of the components and, thus, began selling junk. I lost track of them after buying a Hafler amp & pre-amp, that is, until now. I wasn't aware that they apparently are once again selling top shelf equipment. Good for them

Yesterday, Amazon had 17 of them at the same price. Today they only have 1 left.

Bring back the dreadnoughts of yesteryears. I miss the heft of flagship receivers with "only" 7 channels of amplification, hiding a giant toroidal transformer and capacitor banks and weighing 70+ lbs.

Today's CPI is 12.5x what is was in 1950 and 10x what it was in 1960. So, adjusted for inflation, a $300 receiver would cost between $3000 - $3750 in today's dollars. So I suppose this listing is not too shabby of a deal even compared to back in the day either lol.

Yep, I am well aware of that. Back then, before they regressed into junk after the purchase from the old man, Marantz made fine stuff; one of their tuners, I forget the model #, was sorta/kinda the standard to which others were measured.

I've owned this AVR since launch and it's been fantastic. It was a huge upgrade over my previous SR7012 which was paired with an emotiva xpa 7.

Eventually i introduced more power amplifiers due to upgrade bug, but there's no question in my mind I would be absolutely satisfied using the SR8015 as a one box solution.

Ordered a recertified unit from Marantz.com for $1999. Support said it comes with a 3 yrs warranty. It is the first time for me with marantz. Let's see how it performs.

I finally bit. Good bye SR7012. Marantz direct has 60 day returns, so if its not a difference, then I can return Big Grin

I went with the factory recertified unit

How does this compare to the Denon 6700 that was recently going for $1499? The spec's and back panel seem remarkably similar.

Spects says it supports 8K video. What did you say "unless you want 8K video"?
