Try and use your tiny flashlight to beat a Demogorgon over the head and see how it goes.

Does yours contain a secret compartment with a hidden message?

The actual utility of this flashlight pales in comparison to the fun that kids who are fans of the Stranger Things show can have with it. In other words, it's a toy (not to be compared to real tools).

I took a crack at that hidden message: "Be sure to drink your Ovaltine."

True enough. I bought it last time it was up here. I have many smaller rechargeable flashlights with much greater output. This did come with the batteries and is heavy.

Bright enough for general use though. One thing that may be a plus for some, no complicated interface. On or off, that is it. No levels, strobes, alternate modes, etc.. It is an LED though so brighter than it would have been back in the day and that one set of batteries are good for 200 hour runtime. I think that is what the packaging said anyway. My box was very beat up so went in the trash immediately.

Way more heavier metal than expected. True, not the brightest or greatest flashlight but as a collectible and for show fans it's pretty fun with the engravings and secret message. Be careful ordering from Amazon, had to send one back cause of their poor packing. One of the lights I ordered was bounced around loosely in box so bad the light was damaged by the batteries slamming against light in the box. Contacted Energizer just to see what they would say or do and they just sent me back to Amazon. $10 is worth the fun in my opinion.

I use this to take the dogs out in the middle of the night because it's not very bright and I can stay sleepy without turning lights on in the house. That being said, I wouldn't take it camping lol

I had one of these Eveready flashlights as a kid (it had a red button instead of yellow), brings back great memories. If I was going to mess around with D cells though I'll take the warm glow (and 100 CRI) of an incandescent light over the glare of a cheap LED any day. Man, I sound like my dad...
