The item number in your picture and the item number for the suitcase on the Costco website is different.

What's the point of the mid size. Not big enough for 50lb check in. Not small enough to use as carry on.

The smaller one should be fine as a carry-on. It's a bit bigger than 22x14x9 inches but most airlines are lenient on this.

Neither. The small one is a carry one and the larger one in the picture is too small to check in, why pay to check in a small suitcase if you can get a bigger bag checked in for the same price.

I know, I am talking about the midsize one. (larger one in the picture)

There should be only 2 suitcase sizes, one for carryon and one for checkin (50 lbs).

The larger one of this set is neither.

You're incorrect. The larger one is huge. It's near the maximum dimensions set by airlines. 75.5cm x 50.5cm x 31cm = 157cm. Major Airlines, including American and Delta set their maximum linear dimensions to 158cm. 157cm vs 157cm. That's like the maximum size allowed.
