They're literally called Midgees...
Not to mention, the total package weight is shown. Nobody is being misled or ripped off. I've seen this extra-small roll size as an option in stores for years. Especially at warehouse clubs.

It can be a year or more if unopened (or probably also if resealed tightly), but I suppose the best by date can vary. Once opened, I find climate makes more of a difference. In a dry climate they can harden more quickly.
