Practical car location tracking device?

Considering a car location tracking device for the kids car - so car is worth less than $7k.
Some hacks would also work as long as no maintenance involved.

Tile is Bluetooth - putting it in the car, how do u track the car?
Do u pay a subscription? How much?

If you have an iPhone, I would recommend looking into an Airtag. I placed one into my motorcycle since they are very prone to stealing. With the airtag I was able to check at any time where my vehicle was on my Find My app. At the time it was either spending $20 for an airtag or spending $$ per month for LoJack. I'm not familiar with the Pros and Cons of Airtag vs Tile but I do not like at all that if one were to steal my bike and they had an iPhone, they would be warned there was an airtag nearby... (defeats the purpose)
