The water isn't getting hot enough to mess with the heat treatment. It can mess with bonding agents and the detergents used in dishwashers is caustic.

I honestly wouldn't know myself, just did some quick research on online cause I've always wondered myself why running knifes like these through the dishwasher was a bad thing. That's the info I found.
