Just got an email from ASUS with a generic coupon for the Z1 Extreme model for $100 off making it $599 instead of $699.

I personally have a Steam Deck and am happy with it, but after researching and seeing a popular (+58 deal) from BestBuy for the same price, but requiring a Total Tech membership, I thought I'd share.

Link: Z1 Extreme [asus.com]

Coupon: NC100 during checkout.

FWIW, I tried it on the non-Extreme model and the coupon code did not apply.

Coupon code per email ends on Nov 8th, or "While supplies last."

edit: Although coupon stated through Nov 8th, it is still active on Nov 9th. YMMV on how much longer it's valid.

Yes it still has that issue.
What percent of owners do you think are shelling out $1k plus dollars for an eGPU for these hobbyist devices? Not many my guess.
Some day I'll be rich and have all the toys

I wanted to love this machine but after three returns I washed my hands with it. I'm not paying $700 to not be able to use a SD card.
Was it just the SD reader on all 3 or did you have other issues? Curious what else I should look out for on my open box I just got (right now everything works fine). Thanks.

I guess I get SD card usage if you want 10000 roms and don't care about speed. But for modern gaming, would you play a AAA game on a SD card on your PC? No you'd buy a bigger SSD. I'd much rather upgrade the SSD than use a SD card.

Exactly why I have a 2 TB SSD in mine, and it has been doing great for 3 months now.

I have some "kudos" money from work and got a few Best Buy GCs from that and was hoping to buy this there and get a price match. But... they are saying that price match must come from a list of "Qualified Competitors" which apparently does not include... the manufacturer itself. Odd.
I would pick it up in person at my local BB anyway... so has anyone had more success with in-person price matching at Best Buy vs online?

I upgraded the SSD before even turning the Ally on. Got the Western Digital from Ali, and its been fast and perfect so far.

I've never had an issue with in store price match. However I never had tried to pricematch Asus. However i KNOW that people did do that for XG Mobile and had no issues.

Same SSD i got SN740 from China somwhere. Hopefully it's legit and holds up. I noticed it getting pretty hot in an external enclosure. Popped a heatsink on it prior to going full bore in the Ally.

They ended up not giving me that extra $20 off because it was a coupon for Asus's website to get the deal. Oh well.
I really like this so far - I have all my game stores (EA, Xbox, Steam, GoG, and Epic - hey I get all the free games from wherever SD tells me to!) setup and all Windows updates… and now I can play some games
