The best thing about any Thinkpad is that red little nipple that lets you quickly control the mouse.
It seems they have a protected IP on it cause it should be on all keyboards.

Never been a fan of the red dot, which hurts my finger

How about thinkbook from the seller at the same price? It has 300nits, backlit keyboard

100% agree! I've worked used IBM/Lenovo laptops my entire career and nothing comes close to its speed and accuracy. Blows my mind that anyone would ever want to use a track pad over this; unintentional inputs galore. Can't have that when doing critical work. Highly recommend any laptop with the nub! Team nubby in the house!

don't be silly, thinkpads have a trackpad as well, and everyone who uses the red nub also uses the trackpad to do various complicated cursor manuevers. It's simply the most pleasant and adaptable cursor movement system you can get (outside of towing a mouse with you everywhere you go)

ETA: they may or may not have a patent on it, however, dell hp also have business/productivity targeted business machines that also have a nub.

Have you ever used a MacBook? Totally different experience. But I do understand some engineers are limited to windows for certain engineering software, but… I cannot draw a CAD with a poor red point. If you are doing simple web browsing, try to learn Vim alike system. Check Vimium for chrome, faster than any pointer device.

well I should tell you your best option, which is a lenovo yoga thinkpad that is a laptop, a tablet with a stable stand (makes a nice v shape and won't fall over very easily, can also use it like a handheld tablet for reading things or use a stylus for drawing with it. Also, it has a trackpad and index finger red nub. probably one of the more versatile machines I have ever seen in my life EEK!

Does the Allstate warranty work that came with the "ebay refurbished" item?

Yah the red dot should be a must on all computers. My old dell latitude had it.

Linux still isn't reliable on macs. So if you buy a mac you are stuck with Mac OS which is easily the least useful OS ever. Sure you could set up VM but why bother wasting money to get less features and options.
