Getting a disposable Google Voice number for the port-in is really simple and will cost you only $3. Here's the step-by-step from the Pixel 7 Mint deal in March of this year, which also required a port-in.

1 - Pick a Google account you own that doesn't have a GV number linked to it (or create a new Google acct)
2 - Go to voice.google.com and log in to that Google acct. I prefer an Incognito window here to make sure I'm only engaging with the preferred account.
3 - Select a GV number... I used my home area code and perused the list of available numbers, settling on one that looked good.
4 - Select it, verify it by using a mobile or landline. (see note on this below)
5 - Really important.... set up a PIN!!! Settings > Voicemail > Enable Call to Listen > Enter a PIN
6 - Unlock the GV number so it can be ported: Settings > Account > GV Number > click UNLOCK
7 - Pay Google three bucks
8 - Wait for confirmation that the number is unlocked

Then at Mint:
Phone # is the GV number
Account # is also the GV number
PIN is the PIN you set up in Step 5 above.

The important note from Step 4.... the phone you use to verify here (via text message if you're using a mobile or via a phonecall if using a landline) will be DISCONNECTED from any other GV number you may be using and will be linked to the GV number you're creating here. When you finish up all of this and have successfully ported in to Mint, you'll want to go back to whatever prior GV number you have an re-link that mobile/landline back where it belongs.

EDITED TO ADD: Added this info to thread wiki.

I want to dispell the rumors now. It's locked to mints T-Mobile since they took over in April. Prior the 7 and 7 pro deals were unlocked prior to the takeover. These are 100 percent locked

How do you know it's unlocked? I got the same version, but it locked as soon as it connected to Wi-Fi

I think everyone is getting that but the phone is locking itself to Mint as soon you connect to data.

For anyone that got this deal and wants to use another network, this method will allow you to use the PHYSICAL sim slot with any other carrier:

1. Download the latest Netguard APK from github and copy the apk onto a USB drive: https://github.com/M66B/NetGuard/releases See notes at bottom of this post for more information.
2. Remove the SIM card. Factory Reset your pixel to erase everything.
3. When setting up the Pixel once it reboots, DO NOT connect to WiFi or insert any SIM card. Skip through the setup wizard so you can start using your Pixel. You can set up everything you need later.
4. Use the included QuickConnect USB-C adapter in your Pixel box to connect your USB drive to the Pixel.
5. Navigate to the Files app, and locate your USB drive. Install the Netguard apk (you will need to allow Files to install).
6. Launch the Netguard app. Turn ON Netguard by toggling the switch next to the NetGuard logo on the app's homescreen. Then, in the app's Settings > Advanced Settings, turn ON Manage System Apps
7. Return to the Netguard Homescreen. Locate the following apps and tap the Wifi and Cellular icon next to each, to DISABLE them (will appear Red once disabled):

Carrier Setup (there are 2 of these)
Device Setup

8. Disable battery optimization for Netguard. Open the Pixel Settings > Apps > See all Apps > Netguard > App battery usage. Select Unrestricted.
9. Further restrict system apps from the Internet: Open the Pixel Settings > Apps > See all Apps. Select the Kabob menu (3 dots) and select Show System.

Find the following apps and under Mobile data & Wifi for each of them, deselect (turn off) Background Data:

Carrier Setup (x2)
Device Setup

9. You can now connect to your Wifi network and insert any SIM card. Note: the eSIM will still be locked to Mint only. After a few moments of being connected to Wifi, the Pixel Setup wizard will prompt you to set up your new Pixel, and you can then restore from another device or cloud backup.

10. The unlock will continue to work after reboots and system updates. But if you ever do a Factory Reset, you will lose the unlock and have to repeat the process.

Edit: I will add ťhat I've used this method on several locked pixels and all are still using other carriers than they were locked to. Also, it only has works on Pixels afaik. And I didn't invent this workaround, but just compiled it together so you don't have to read through pages of discussion over at xda.

Edit 2: I would recommend NOT updating Netguard once it is up and running and successfully blocking network requests from the aforementioned system apps. I haven;t and it continues to work just fine. I didn't want to risk Netguard lapsing during an update and letting the system apps through and locking the phone.

Edit 3: It seems that updating to Android 14 may not play nicely with Netguard. Some users have reported that Netguard can't find the Device Setup app to block it in 14. Personally, I haven't seen that issue. If this happens to you, use Google to search for "xda unlock any pixel from carrier" and you'll find a few threads about this hack on XDA forums. Good luck!

Hello, MintMobileCS -- People are concerned that the process to unlock the Pixel 7 Pro is very challenging with Mint. Can you explain how this is accomplished, and the amount of time Mint will take to process unlock requests?
