I recently bought a V12 directly from Dyson when they were on sale for $450, and I loved it. My apartment is all hard floors (not even area rugs at the moment), so I can't speak to its performance on carpet, but I live in a dusty old building with a very hairy cat, and the laser head was so satisfying. I don't even like cordless stick vacuums, and Dysons are overpriced, but wow, my floors have never been cleaner, just because it was so cool.

BUT... the build quality was so awful I ended up returning it. The edge of a gasket in the cyclone was sticking out way farther than it's supposed to, and it came like that, so it wasn't something that happened from use/misuse. Within three weeks, the excess was already starting to tear. Those gaskets are what keeps the cyclone sealed, so once that tore far enough, it would've started to just spew dust right out, making it worse than not vacuuming at all. It would've been a reason to return any vacuum, but absolutely shameful for something so expensive. At least it happened within the 30-day return period, but not by much. I saw a few other people with the same problem on Dyson's support forum and Reddit, so maybe it's rare, but still not some freak occurrence. So disappointing.

Definitely overkill if your apartment is 450 sq ft. Save money and go with the V8 absolute when the deals come around for BF.

My current shark is almost 5 and not doing a great job any more (even though I've replaced some parts on it). Is this Dyson overkill for a 450ft apartment that's 80% carpet?

I have a cordless dual roller shark. I have been requesting a new head every year as mine tend burn up the motor. And my house is hardwood so it's basically a duster lol it was a decent sale during BF a few years ago with 30% off. They have the best warranties around. They send a brand new head, no questions.

450 Sq ft is tiny, but you will notice the additional suction from this model, especially on the carpet.

V12 has smaller pipes and a somewhat smaller head, it is much more easier on the arm than v11 v10 v15. That is why they call it slim.
The laser head by itself is over 100$. It is actually quite useful on hard surfaces. That is the detect part.

I would rate this a good deal because the high end models are not deeply discounted often. The old BBB sale +20% path is gone. This will not be a doorbuster item.

Dyson doesn't do presales price matches. They would also want you to buy it from them and submit the price match later. A few problems there: 1. The item on Dyson comes with a HEPA filter and free part. 2. Their foreign-based customer service chat team can tell you anything. They can promise you will get a price match but there is no recourse with them and they do not make or execute price matches. They only submit it to another team for validation.
