I know of no "veteran ID." other than the ID the VA provides for people who are eligible for VA healthcare and I have never known any organization to accept that as a proof of veteran status. DD214

The va and a private company (I am thinking office depot) paired up to offer official veterans id cards. It's odd, but legit.

I little understanding goes a long way. Without a universally recognized ID for vets, it's always going to be confusing for the 20 somethings to figure out. I hand them my retired ID and many times they still look like they have no idea what it is.
