(Random: the Meguiar's 64-oz boat wash is $12+. Is is a boat wash forumla a lot different than the car wash formula?)

You confused Gold Class Shampoo with Ultimate Wash and Wax. Gold Class Shampoo doesn't have any wax in it, they's why Meguiars sells a spread Paste Wax for it.

I have used all their car wash soaps and by far the best is the gold class. Figures you get what you pay for. If you detail your car/truck and have DA polished your paint so you dont have swirl marks use the gold class. For me it really helps to keep down the swirl marks way longer then when I washed with deep crystal or the purple one. The gold class stays frothy longer and seems to bind to the water better, if that makes sense.

Dawn will strip the wax so no, it wouldn't be better.

I noticed this Armor All product is slightly more if someone likes it better (seems like the identical type of soap to me so I would go for the original deal as it's cheaper - with S&S it was $3.98 for me).
