sold my ender 3 because i got tired of the endless tinkering. it's fun for a while but when you just want to set it and forget it, you can't trust creality, when it works, it works great. waiting to see if bambu labs has a back friday sale on the p1s

This.

I have 3 creality printers and at least one is always jacked up. Frequently 2 out of the 3 have issues I have to deal with before I can get a decent print. It just gets so frustrating that often I'll just take a weeks long break from 3d printing altogether. These prices are really tempting but I just don't have it in me to keep fighting with creality.

The K1 is sort of plagued with various issues (can be a little or a lot depending on how lucky you are), though considering how fast the price fell from $600 to $350, I don't think anyone is really surprised. That said, depending on your use case it's still an ok choice for $350. If you get a decent one, and with a bit (or a lot) of tinkering it's almost a Bambu P1S for half price. I mean there's a reason the K1 and K1 max are both dropping in price so fast while Bambu is able to maintain their prices.

You will need to root the machine for input shaping too, as the latest Creality firmware doesn't do both axis. One of the recent firmware was also recalled due to crashing nozzle into the bed, and they haven't released anything else since then.

Has the typical CoreXY issues with VFA if you need strong good looking PETG parts, or print slow speed silk filaments. Seems most people disappointed with their K1 came from previous bedslinger printers like the Ender series, because while it get's significant gains in speed, that speed comes at the cost of noise and quality. And unlike bedslingers, you can't just slow it down due to VFA issues.

But it's still basically the cheapest CoreXY along with the smaller QIDI at a similar price. If you want a budget $350 coreXY, there aren't a lot of choices.

it's called K1 max, but reviews are horrendous.
We got a k1 max at work and have been very impressed by it's quality. Bed leveling had been great, zero issues with first layer, and pretty great overall finish even on default high speed settings

I am holding out for a bambu discount. My issue with the K1 besides everything already mentioned is build volume. Bambu is slightly bigger which doesn't seem like much but it helps for full helmets etc. If the K1 max were to drop significantly then it might be up for debate.

If you're taking weeks off between prints, the issue is most likely moisture in your filament than anything with the printer. Dry your filament and watch problems evaporate.

A few microcenter does have the k1 max at $650. Which is less than the current p1s and that's with lidar and nicer display.

I'm really hoping they will have a sale on the X1C, I'd love to pull the trigger on one finally!

I noticed that after my comment so my bad. That would be the printer to look at as you are getting so much more for the money. To me thats the real competitor to the Bambu line. No reason to look at the regular K1 unless you just want to spend as little as possible as you are giving up a bunch to do so.

Apparently, the newer versions of both the K1 and K1 Max are supposed to be much improved compared to the initial release versions. Creality seems to be basing their business model after A+ video game developers, wherein they rush a half-assed product to market then eventually update it and get everything working properly later down the road.

This deal seems pretty good honestly. The hardware seems highly capable and any issues can likely be worked out if you have the patience for it. The K1 looks to punch above its weight if you get a good one but it also probably doesn't have quite as polished an out-of-the-box experience as the newer Bambu printers. However, the closest comparable Bambu printer is the P1P which is $600.

If you're OK with the idea of having to tinker and troubleshoot some issues, for the money, this is pretty solid. However, if you want a 100% "take it out of the box, press print, and get a perfect result" kind of experience, I don't know if Creality is the way to go for that.
Is this one the newer version of K1?

I have Sermoon V1 from Creality (similar closed enclosure FDM printer) and have never faced an issue apart from WiFI disconnects

Don't do it. It's half the price of a Bambu because it's half the machine that Bambu is. Granted I only had mine a week before it went back, but my Bambus just didn't have the issues with the subpar hotend, clogging, tinkering with the clipper rooting, etc. I've been using the bambu since February and it's been 95% success and most errors were my fault for forgetting about which plate to set or bad adhesion because I have dirty fingers. I came from a whole mess of creality and so many of other brands like sovol, anycubic, biqu, etc. and I don't think I can go back. The speed and precision of the Bambus truly are a game changer. My cache of filament has finally dwindled because I am able to enjoy printing and not tinkering. Also, the hotends, and other parts are reasonably priced. Yes, it's proprietary, but they aren't gouging you like what XYZ did with $150 nozzle replacement.

After owning an Ender 3 pro and having a Bambu X1C for the last year, it's worth double to step to the Bambu. I had 1000 hours before my first $5 cable failure. And in that 1000 hours of prints I've had only one nozzle clog and only a handful of print failures. There's a reason these are "a bargain"

lower than what few people picked up with $200 coupon last month

Wondering if they will throw another $50 off on Black Friday
I picked up a unit late last month using the $200 coupon and my particular unit did have the updated extruder. Lucky for me my microcenter was near by and got a 30 dollar price adjustment to reflect the even lower price.

Got my ender 3 pro from microcenter for $100 which started my 3d printing journey. Endless amounts of tinkering and calibration. Bought the k1 (microcenter coupon), rooted and running fluidd. everything works so far. Just mindful that it's a creality and it will need maintenance / tuning eventually!
