As for this deal, you're essentially getting 50% off for renting two days. 50% off seemed like a good enough deal to me to consider getting one on my next rental.
If your planning a long road trip with more than 500 miles a day, then I prefer a gas car.

The fleet data is out from Hertz. They are pulling back on teslas because of the high maintenance cost and rapid depreciation.
No need for disinformation, the pain is real.
Nor do I care what Hertz is doing, I rented from them because we have a single car and if I have to rent again I'll rent an EV. Does this mean others should do it? No, I dont care what they do.
Edit: I have to ask, what high maintenance costs are they claiming? Besides tires .. there isn't much you're doing maintenance on.

You don't have to care what Hertz is doing to look at the actual fleet data from 30,000 vehicles as opposed to the anecdotal experience of an investor who has ulterior motives on a site like SLICK DEALS promoting a car at MSRP. That is probably some of the best fleet data you will get
As far as maintenance they are a year old, so not much maintenance on any car so probably tires, but also maintenance of the fleet entails repairs and replacement parts, which are significantly higher for Tesla. See maintenance doesn't just mean oil change. If you break a windshield, you have to replace it. Maintenance of the fleet

Ill bicker about the cost of a windshield because those are about the same cost as any other vehicle on the road, but the top glass is another thing that will indeed cost more to replace than a standard car. However the uptick of EVs from Ford, GM, etc should lower overall cost of operation. Those other manufacturers getting to use the Tesla charging infrastructure will be of benefit until infrastructure comes up to par as well.

Haven't rented a Tesla myself, but I'm going in assuming that I'll have to use a Supercharger. That's assuming they even have a Tesla available and you don't get bumped to a different vehicle.
Also it is true some cars have adapters others don't you'll have to ask for a car that specifically has one if you want to go that route. Also, with gas prices here in Cali, you'd be crazy not to get a EV instead of a gas car.

See that is the beauty of fleet data, you can bicker all you want but Hertz is not emotionally attached to their cars like you are and they simply see it from a business perspective, and it is clearly costing them far more than ICE cars. Like 30% more.
Over 30,000 vehicles vs. your 1. OK.
Some of the advantages so far I experienced with EVs in general not all are applicable to renting. I owned one for close to 5 years.
Never visited a gas station unless I needed air. No oil changes, no brake changes. No engine air filters
Only maintenance I did was a new set of tires and alignment after 40k miles. Tires do wear quicker as EVs are heavy with instant torque. So don't mind that.
Everyday morning I can go out with a full charge. Cross country drive not a problem with Teslas. Not sure about others.
