My wife and I have had ours for over two years. They're used almost every morning and hand washed. It's no secret the APP is trash and has connection problems. However, after you initially set it up and pick your temp you don't have to use the app again.
Only issue we've had is last year one of the coasters pogo charging pin failed. Made it a point to make sure they're completely dry before putting them back on the coaster.
I tend to like my coffee and tea on the "hotter" side and the Ember can only maintain liquids on the higher end of "warm".
This is perfectly fine for most people, but if you prefer your drinks on the hotter side this isn't for you.

This is Costco; If you are blessed with the very common defect of recessed charging coaster, take it back and buy this years deal
I had a 50% failure rate from last years deal, I am buying 2 more, just in case.
(If you had the defect, and did not notice it, you have probably damaged the battery)
Ember rocks, but I would only consider buying one from Costco.

I've had mine for 2 years and it's still working good as new. If it died tomorrow, I'd be ordering another one immediately. Definitely wouldn't bother with the 10oz mug though. I would buy one off eBay without the charger just as a backup but I've literally never needed it.
Some people use preground coffee and will even use the microwave if their mug gets cold.
Ignorance is bliss...

For the 30 or so minutes of warmth, it takes 4-5 hrs to recharge for the next day.
But pouring a cup, waiting ten minutes while it sits on the coaster and cools to a drinkable temperature that you choose then maintains that perfect temperature as you go about your morning...
It's pretty neat.
