Other than a couple of one-off incidents of local gangbangers shooting other local gangbangers, I've never viewed MOA as particularly unsafe. Considering the amount of traffic that mall gets, I never have personally seen anything even slightly concerning there.

Having said that, I'll be grabbing a free coffee there next time I go!

last time I was there I got stuck on lockdown working at the IKEA due to a shooting. Never going back again

It looks like over the last couple of years there were three shooting incidents targeting specific victims (not random violence) at the mall, which gets 40 million visitors annually. Honestly I like those odds.
