I have them around my TV's but I am not noticing a difference with them to my health. I do know looking farther every 20 minutes is good.

Dang this has a lot of the things I'm looking for. To be honest I'm not sure what really to expect from the missing things, because my current 22" Asus monitors are like 12 years old.

People say I shouldn't want a VA panel, but will I really notice? Is it really that big of a deal? I was looking for IPS but maybe this wouldn't be so bad?

Also I AMD Freesync listed as a feature but I don't see the Nvidia equivalent. Gsync? Is that a problem if I am planning to buy an Nvidia card?

I have never had a positive experience with LG. Every purchase is a later regret. I got an ultrawide LG monitor similar to this last November, and I just noticed a dead pixel. Now they want me to ship it back to them (thankfully free under warranty) and be without a monitor for over a week.

I think I'm just gonna buy the $1,100 49" Samsung OLED, and sell my LG when I get it back.

Well it's much larger than the 22" you've been used to, but I'm also assuming based on age, you'll be more impressed with the higher refresh rate, especially if you're gaming.

If you base your computer monitor purchasing habits based on the opinions SD elitists here have, then you'll likely never even buy a monitor because they all have something wrong that you'll absolutely hate. Personally, I have the 49" version of this LG with 240hz and it looks great. No issues with VA panel, but I also have it in a room that is mostly dark at all times, so I guess that makes a difference.

Regarding the Freesync/G-Sync question, the answer is this:

The actual technology is called variable refresh rate. AMD calls it Freesync, Nvidia calls it G-Sync. Most monitors or TVs you buy are labeled Freesync compatible because AMD allows them to use the language in hopes that it may increase AMD revenue via (likely) free advertising.

On the flip side, Nvidia charges a fee for manufacturers to have the name G-Sync or G-Sync compatible listed on the packaging or actual unit.

That doesn't mean G-Sync doesn't work, because it absolutely does- it's just a marketing thing.

The only thing you'll notice is in the Nvidia control panel when you turn on G-Sync, you'll get a notice at the top of the screen that says "this monitor may not be G-Sync certified". Who cares.

Good luck with your purchase, this looks like a decent deal, but I would probably be on the lookout for a sale on a 49" 240hz made by LG, Samsung, or AOC for around the same price. Might as well get those few extra inches and fps if you're going to spend this much anyway. You can also save some by going with a 49" 120hz (that is still going to blow your mind vs that Asus you've been using) for around $650 right now.

You're going to have an even worse experience with Samsung in my opinion. Most Samsung monitors get RMA'd for burn in.

Noob here and got a couple of questions.
1. Is this good for work? Mainly Excel sheets.
2. Do these super wide monitors need a "gaming" graphic card to drive them or can a laptop HDMI out can handle them?

I'm about to pull the trigger on the Costco Samsung 49" ultra wide monitor. how does it stack up against this LG?

I am in a similar boat. Don't take my word for exactly because this is all new to me, but I went with this over the costco deal because this monitor is newer. It supports USB-C which I think is going to be super helpful for that laptop connection. It can even power the laptop.

Both monitors support picture by picture which should allow you split up the screen into 2 monitors. I expect it to be kind of like my current double 22" set up but a little larger and without the bezels in-between. Your (and my) work laptop should have no problem driving that.

Also I'm expecting that included speaker to be pretty good for working from home too. It has a built in microphone for voice calls.

Pretty good deal imo. You're paying an extra $100 for USB-C + additional items compared to the other model.

I've been looking for something in this form factor with these features for a while and the only ones I was able to find were the HP e45c and Philips 45B1U6900CH, both more business focused with lower refresh rates but it does have other features.

The only concern I'd have is how the KVM works as I haven't been and to read anything about it. As for VA vs IPS, the only IPS monitors that I was able to find that were 45"+ are from Dell and LG but with 60 Hz and a ridiculous 3800R which makes it an automatic nogo for me. I use 2 dell Ultrasharp IPS monitors at work and a VA panel at home and honestly don't notice a difference working with spreadsheets.

If you're able to flip the other items, this is a pretty amazing deal if you want a gaming/work monitor in one (pending reviews on KVM).
