Buyer beware, these drives are supplied by NewEgg and they have fallen off a cliff for items they provide. And even more so for marketplace items. Drives (WD20tb red) from Newegg have been recertified when buying new. Drives from market place have been counterfeit (870ssd).

NewEgg has been going downhill since they started that marketplace garbage and began screwing people on their return policies. NewEgg selling via Walmart's marketplace seems rather desperate to me. Believe me, I loved shopping NewEgg 15 or 20 years ago, but I wouldn't bother with them now.

I really feel like we need to see ~$10/TB. Mechanical drives haven't really been dropping in price.

Shipped and sold by Newegg Inc.
Yet $10 cheaper than current newegg.com price. Probably a price drop or coupon to follow on newegg.com.

Don't forget Chase Freedom 5% cashback with PayPal.

Definitely easier/better to deal with Walmart rather than Newegg if issues occur.

it's seriously so annoying that mechanical drives are this expensive.

i'm trying to buy a synology nas this black friday (or grab one locally, someone has a DS220+ for $150 on facebook) and just want a couple 8-10TB hard drives for around $100!

2TB SSDs are dropping like a rock and i'm sitting here begging for ancient technology to become affordable

You can get used enterprise class HDD's for about $10/TB. Those deals pop up on SD often enough. Though people usually get more excited about larger drives like this 20TB. I got this one [amazon.com] from GoHardDrive for $80. It had 39 months of usage on it. Runs cool and quiet, too.

Every retailer has their problems. These are new and come with 5 year manufacturer warranty.

Same. Newegg had a great reputation once upon a time. It's unfortunate they've destroyed it.

I'd like to see drives for $5-10 per TB, too! But I have seen no movement in terms of drives like that. We are about to see big price increases on memory and SSD (It's coming - probably after Black Friday). Big players like Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron (who make 90% of the world's RAM and NAND) ramped up supply during the pandemic to keep chasing profits, and when demand fell off, these companies lost a ton of money. With that said, they scaled back production by 20-30%. Now, their inventories are drying up, and I expect price increases of 25-30% early next year. We have seen price drops of 60% since last summer - these companies cannot sustain these prices. I've gotten this data from many many sources - queue the "it's happening" videos now. I bought 32GB of DDR5 and a 4TB SSD around October PrimeDay for my next laptop, since I knew this was coming.

I will say that I think HDD are prime to stay flat - the problem is that nothing is coming along to disrupt the pricing of HDDs. But I don't think they will go up, either. Problem is that only Toshiba, WD, and Seagate are making spinny drives, and Toshiba just sold their SSD division to WD, so WD needs cash right now (to pay off Kioxia), so don't expect these drops.

Last I heard, the WD/Kioxia deal fell through. Now, WD is spinning off their flash division (SanDisk). It looks like we'll be back to WD making just hard drives and SanDisk making flash.

It is 5 years from drive manufacturing date however and if you read reviews on new egg, people have been saying they are getting year old stock with really bad packaging by newegg. So warranty is 4 years and drive quality is questionable.
