Thanks!
Older docks and NAS (using 32 bit cpus) can only address up to 16TB per drive due to limitation in architecture. In those situations, the drives may not even show up or initialize. You may think it is dead.

If you use the tool on the website, it gives you a warranty date based on the manufacture date because they have no idea how long a drive might sit in a warehouse. My new drives were built on 02/25/23, and they reported an warranty end date of 06/25/28. So it looks like they give you 4 months as a default for warehouse time. So, good tool to check that it's not a counterfeit drive and an approximation of for the actual warranty. They also specify:
So, if you have your receipt, it's 5 years from ship date. Without it, it's 5 years from manufacture date, plus a few months. Actually ran into this several years ago with a drive that died and had a 3 year warranty. It's manufacture date was just over 3 years, but I had the paperwork to show I purchased it less than 3 ago and they honored the warranty.
So, don't believe everything you hear/read. Even the generic warranty statement on the Seagate site says check the manual for the exact terms of your warranty.
Note: Edited to correct typo. Warranty end date reported is 06/25/28, not 06/25/23.

Thanks.
The lowest AFR drives are HGST (now WD HC) and Toshiba. The Seagates have become better in the last few years (except for some problematic models) but personally I purchase manufacturer renewed HGST/WD HC Helium drives they are super-reliable. I believe the WD Pro is another SKU for them (not the plus).
An example (w/ 5 year warranty to boot): https://www.goharddrive
I would wait a bit though, everyone emptying their wallets right now recert are either sold out or higher price, so now buy new. Wait a few months and buy recert.
