The power brick is nearly as large as the speaker.

People keep saying it's worth it as a 60W charger. Nobody is going to lug this beefy thing around with the speaker size plus the power brick (with the same footprint) to charge something.
…or you could leave it sit at your desk, plugged in all the time? I mean, if you like doing things the hard way, go ahead….

For the previous price of $80, it was a tough sell given the speaker & mic quality is just average (from reviews). It also has limited ports (just one USB-A, no ethernet, etc).

For $35, it's a much better value. A 60w USB-C charger by itself is around $25-40, depending on the number of charging ports, quality, if a cable is included, etc. This is within that price range, but it's a full computer dock supporting 2x monitors, USB-A port, and of course, the built-in speaker and mic. It's an entirely different tool than a simple charger, but one with many more features.

I'm going to see if it works with the Valve SteamDeck -- if so, it might make an easy and cheap way to "dock" the handheld. If not, then I'll keep it on reserve for a spare dock if I get a second laptop.
If this thing actually supports two monitors, albeit one USB-C Alt-Mode and one HDMI still might be worth the $80

Bought this in the last deal when it was $80. Audio/Mic was great but connection was terrible. Had constant issues with charging, sometimes it'll charge.. Sometimes it doesn't. Disconnects and reconnects often. I have the 49" Samsung g9 monitor so maybe it was too much for it? Wanted to like it but the disconnect/reconnect was too much. Not much support on it either. Ended up returning it after 2-3 weeks. This was with an hp elitebook, so nothing too powerful.

Just got one. Sometimes I don't want to connect my laptop to my monitor setup with a mic and speakers.

Thank you. Have you ever tried with Google Meet by chance?

I also assume that these wouldn't probably mesh well with Chromebooks if Linux is out of the question. Damn, I mite get one just to mess around with…

Oh, and can it run 4k at 60hz?
The official MSFT page lists support as

Limit 100 per person? Damn, this thing must have been a total failure lol.
It was very expensive. That's why it no one bought it.

Problem i had was, even as a 60w charger, it would work inconsistently charging the laptop. And this is with just a standard hp elitebook. I even had my monitor connected directly to laptop with hdmi but it would disconnect and reconnect at times. Sometimes i could go a few hours with no issues, sometimes it would be constant. Maybe i got a bad one or refurb. At least this one shows as new so maybe it's worth trying again? 🤔🤔

We have this in the office and just some added info:

- 60W PD charging, might not be enough for more powerful Windows laptops
- Works with Intel/Apple Silicon Macbooks
- I love the Teams button, we usually communicate using Teams so sometimes when I lose my Teams window I press the button to bring the window to the foreground
- Mic quality is bad, at least compared to the built-in mic on my Macbook Pro M1
- Speaker is so-so, at max volume it goes louder than the Macbook's built-in but let's say you're using this for a call at mid volume, voices tend to be muffled

For $35, it's a great deal as you're getting a 60W PD charger + USB-C Hub + speaker and mic
I have a MacBook Pro m1, how is compatibility of it with MacBook? Will it charge the laptop?

Yes. I have the M1 Pro MBP14 and it charges it nicely. Unless you have the M1/M2 Ultra variants, 60W should be sufficient

The thing about Teams (that this is recommended to be paired with) is that it runs its own audio enhancement (including noise cancellation) when paired up with a compatible microphone. So, you will get better sound inside Teams than you do with a direct recording app. Now, the question is will you get better sound than the alternative microphone (say the one on the laptop) and the answer is maybe, the one thing this option has in its favor is you can easily reposition the mic if your meetings don't call for you to be talking directly into your laptop the whole time.
