Difference is - XDR display - SD Card slot - extra Thunderbolt port - weight - screen size - internal fan.

The biggest advantage over the M1 Pro is the battery life (M1 Pro has only 2 efficiency cores, when the M2 has 4)

The M1 Pro has better performance specially in sustained and demanding apps; but for most other applications and productivity, the M2 has the edge with its higher single core performance.

MBA screen is actually better since it does not have PWM flickering. If you're sensitive to that it could be a dealbreaker. I bough MBP 14 and am very unhappy with the screen

Good price for this configuration. But the Midnight color is a finger print magnet and lots of people should consider refurb M1 Pros for less money

Looks like the 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD version also has a large discount. Currently $999. Totaltech membership may be required to see the low price. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/appl...Id=6534606

Another big difference which may be very important, depending on your setup, is that this machine has Thunderbolt 3 ports and only supports one external display, while the M1 Pro 14" has Thunderbolt 4 ports and supports two external displays.

One major advantage (for some) this MBA has over the MBP M1 Pro (and any other mini-LED released so far) is that the display is "flicker free".

The display on this model does not use PWM for backlight dimming.

Could be a deal maker for some.

Membership or not, it only goes lower. The 1899 was the retail price they thought they might get months ago. I am talking about Apple itself. Sales have been very weak on the 15 inch airs after the inital buyers. Its a good machine. Best Buy is really pushing these membership things hard.

If this is the computer you want then get the 8gb/512gb version for $1199. If you want 16gb, a refurbished M1 Pro

The open box models on that one were under 900.00 recently.

The 8/256 model will be 999 or less new for Christmas. To get 16/512 is another $400. Thats the part that stings and gets pushback from customers. Right now lots of complaints on the M3 Pro with 8/Gb at 1500 starting price. Bottom line is this machine has to be 1200 approx, the way I see it.

Note that the deal headline is incorrect:

$1,399.99 ~~$1,899.99~~

The original MSRP of this configuration (15" M2 16GB 512GB) is only $1,699.99. It's not quite as big of a discount as the headline makes it seem.
