That's not how it works you have to return the same one you bought from that place. One time I bought two airtags from best buy and needed to return one when I went there the guy scanned it and said it's not the one attached to your receipt even though it was mew unopened thet didn't took it and needed the same one because the receipt is attached to the serial number at many places for these items.

Thanks for the info...but I don't think it's devices because I currently have 16 Airtags and 4 devices on the Find My app right now. I'm assuming it's 16 Airtags (what they list as "items" under the Find My app).

I am DEEP in the Apple ecosystem. Please share with me some of your use cases for AirTags, I wonder if there's anything in my daily life that would be immediately made more efficient or comforting knowing I have one (or several).

Genuinely asking as this seems like a great price for a 4-pack.

It's a cheap piece of mind to hide one in your vehicle. If it's ever stolen...it's usually found easily and quickly.

I realize most people don't have their vehicles stolen but it can happen and does happen and for $18 it's not a bad "insurance".

Also people place them in their luggage while flying or on their pets, their children to see where they are after school. My child's bus is all over the place sometimes a 20 minute swing on drop off times. Standing in the rain waiting is not as nice as pulling up a tracker and knowing it's 7-10 minutes late and I can wait inside.

Obviously it's not for everyone...but it does have its uses.

It's useful to keep track of valuables like keys, bags or luggage. Some people even put them on pets as peace of mind.

It's a lot more useful on iOS 17 now that you can easily share AirTags with other people on iOS. I find it useful for sharing house or car keys.

Thanks! This was on the list to get this Christmas. Great for tracking luggage. I almost bought it from target so I will wait for this deal.

I put it in all my bags and travel stuff. I have one to keep track of where I put my spare airtags (yes I'm that forgetful). Two for TV remote controller (kid shares the same forgetfulness gene). The airtags fit perfectly in these samsung remote: https://a.co/d/hv6ZwEA You can unscrew the screws to open it up and double sided tape them inside. I can take a picture of it if anyone is interested. Now I'm the hero that can always find the TV remote.

1) I have one on my dog in case he gets out. Chances are he will eventually wander near an Apple device. He's also chipped but this lets me track him in "real time."
2) Checked luggage
3) Kids' backpacks, especially when we travel.
4) I have one in each car. Poor man's LowJack.
5) I give one to my kids when we go to theme parks or county fairs. Haven't needed it yet but cheap insurance just in case.
6) Put one in my boxes during a cross country move. It helped me know when the movers were probably going to arrive.

Off the top of my head - obvious ones are keys. One in your car if you're airheaded and often forget where you park. In obscure places on a bike (accessible tubes or under the seat) in case of theft. Added onto certain types of wallets. Tracking high value packages to known individuals willing to pay for it or send it back. Attaching to remotes or readily misplaced objects. Glued inside suitcases/travel bags. Attach to pet leaches, watch bands holders for kids when you go out to amusement parks/malls/crowded places.
