Good deal for people on the platform already who need to add a grinder with a lock switch rather than paddle. Lemme know if this product commonly sells for less than $85, and I'll delete my poast

So I see that the x lock is awesome in that it makes changing blades so much easier while using xlock blades and then also it works for regular standard non x lock blades as well still..
Is that right / how is it possible that it works with both and u get the best of both worlds??

Is there an advantage to having the lock switch vs paddle to power the grinder? Maybe when you are doing a large area of grinding, it's better to have the slide lock?
According to the listing the grinder is not compatible with traditional round arbor hole wheels, but the x-lock wheels themselves can be used on a traditional grinder arbor.

Personal preference for me (I have a cheap corded grinder with slide lock, but my cordless ones all have triggers). When using my ginders I always have my hands on the body, so by default, I am holding down the trigger. If I were to drop the grinder, get something caught in the wheel or brush, or somehow lose control for some reason, it would shut off when I released my hand...not so much with a slide lock.

The x-lock blades can be used on either type of grinder but the grinder itself will only work with x-lock blades.
They don't get any cheaper than this. Got the paddle version last week. Excellent tool. Paddle vs switch is just personal preference. Some prefer the switch so it will stay on no matter how you're holding it. Some people don't like the fatigue of squeezing the paddle when using it for long durations... I'm not that guy.
Per the makita website, only the paddle version has an electronic brake. If true, this is a useful feature for me. Neither have speed control. For the US grinders, there is no single grinder that has every feature all in one. X-lock, aft, e brake, speed control, etc. I settled on the xag26z as the best for me, but if it weren't on sale, would have happily gone with the 25.
Also, the 40v versions do have more power as expected, but not worth the premium price and new platform for me. If I need more power, I'll get a corded as well.

I have this grinder and the x lock is love and hate⦠Love the speed of changing but your limited in discs you can use drastically... And you'll be paying a premium for those discs (no harbor freight).
I have one of these and hate it. Not because of how it works, but because it doesn't work with standard discs. The ability to change a disc quickly doesn't matter. One who needs multiple discs at once just buys more grinders. The disks cost quite a bit more, can't be purchased everywhere. In particular I can't purchase them at any of the 3 hardware stores near me. I can only purchase them at Home Depot or online.
