I'm sorry if this is a dumb question: is this laser self leveling? I see the pendulum/lock mentioned but not that it self levels.

It's not a dumb question if you've never used a laser level before. The line it throws will be level, by virtue of using the pendulum's response to the earth's gravitational pull.

I have the one that throws three beams, two may be enough for you, but keep in mind there's an option with three.

I'm not sure if this is super high visibility lazer contractor grade product but I have to say I purchased two knock offs on Amazon for ~$30 a piece a couple years ago and they work great (Bought two to create pinpoint plumb from floor to ceiling). Finished my basement with them. Everything level. My opinion is it depends on the project and how often you use it. If you're a contractor this is probably what you want. If DIYer, I can't imagine why anyone would pay more than $50 for one of these.

Wow i was debating whether to buy at this price and when i decided to pull the trigger a mysterious coupon appeared for an extra 20% off making it $169.57 before tax. Instant buy.

Edit: i bought another one cause the coupon still works... couldnt resist. Now im all set for years to come

I got this for $329 many years back but I don't think it is worth the price as there are many other similar types for much lower cost.

There is a similar laser that runs on (3) AA rather than a 20v cordless battery pack.
That one might be more appealing to anybody not already in the Dewalt ecosystem.
