The deal to buy refurbished is always appealing but if you run into a problem, sadly Sony won't assist.
Put on an alert for the next deal. I would not buy these for retail, but if you can get a decent price your ears will thank you.
I have sony WH xm4s (over ear) and have had a wonderful experience with them overall. Prior to these, I was running Sennheiser HD 599/600s, which are a much more expensive and "audiophile" headphone...but I wanted the noise cancelling and wireless option with the Sony's for my work calls, flights, and doing yard work.
I've also had a pair of Shure SE530 that are my go-to for running and other applications for some 12-13 years. They have lots of earbud tip options, my favorite always being the "squishy" foam ones that appear to be similar in the Sony WF xm5. The sound quality on these, for what they are, is amazing. Obviously Shure has made some significant improvements since then, along with other manufacturers.
All this said, I would like to get a pair of wireless earbuds and am leaning towards the Sony WF xm5 due to how much I like the WH xm4, along with the smaller size and weight in this newest iteration. While $200 is a good deal on this, it is still a lot of money. Has anyone here as a similar experience with being unhappy with how the Airpods fit/work and been happy with the Sony? Anyone else also had Shure earbuds that can compare with these?

And removing the buds from the case are a non-issue, just pull outwards to the side and it comes right off

I can't think of one way in which the XM5s are better than the Airpods Pro 2.
ANC: Worse (because the passive isolation is doing most of the work, not the ANC)
Transparency: Much worse
Price: Much more expensive
Sound quality: Both good
Comfort: Worse (for me)
Thuds when running: Much worse
Control system: Much worse (four taps to change volume!)

Do you know what any of that means? The XM5s support bitrate of 990kbps while Airpods Pro 2 support bitrate of 320kbps.
