SW Fla below Sarasota. Way, way back when I was in college I worked for a developer on Sanibel Island and then later found an island only accessible by ferry which made for a great spring break place as no cars were allowed. That coast has always been our happy place.
Lots of Publix and drugstore shopping when there.

Well I meant entire store 50% off.
Publix is fine, where I do most my shopping, but the same items go on sale all the time and leave others out in the cold.
I know you shop there as you have been sooo helpful to me in the almost dead Publix thread here. Hope you know how much I appreciated your taking the time to help out the new kid on the block!

I kinda noticed the same stuff on sale too, but I thought maybe it was a seasonal thing. Now to find where to get those other items so I don't have to transport between residences. Although I am finding it works both ways and can be beneficial that way too.

I went to Vons this morning for some bagels and Swiss cheese. I didn't load the coupon for the Swiss cheese because I misread the ad and thought that it didn't have one. I asked the cashier if she would give me the sale price so I wouldn't have to go home and then come back but she refused. I've dealt with her before. She's a miserable person who hates life and takes it out on her customers every chance she gets. I said that if you can't help me out I'm leaving and she said fine. I went home, loaded the coupon, and went to a different Vons. I live very close to two Vons. I'm not sure if it's a blessing or a curse. Both stores are usually friendly but there are cashiers that you want to avoid. I don't understand why she couldn't have given me the sale price. We're talking about $1.50 and I was only getting one package. I made an honest mistake and I didn't have my phone with me. I guess that the cashier thought that I was going to buy 500 packages of cheese this week to go with my 5 bagels and I was trying to get around the limits.

I have a store that has CS just as you described. Makes you wonder why they bother living. They stay at the same job they clearly hate. Then it rubs off on the rest of the staff and suddenly no one wants to shop in that store. You are lucky you can go to another store in the same chain. I'd have to drive another 20 miles thru stop and go traffic to do that. I just give the grief right back when I have the energy. Otherwise the store manager is always a call away.

Lucky, that's a laugh. If a bridge is going to fall down, I'm the guy it will hit.

Vons is doing the email verification thing now. It's way too much trouble for deals that aren't very good 9 weeks out of 10. I'm thinking that I'll still go to Vons for bagels but I'll switch over to Walmart for everything else. Walmart is a lot cheaper and it's only an extra mile drive but I don't like the new SCO machines. I tap on the screen but nothing happens. Some of the Red Box machines at CVS are like that, too. The only reason that I go to Vons is for convenience but verification codes aren't convenient and after yesterday where I had to make a 2nd trip because I didn't load the dq that's pretty much it for Vons. Walmart's regular price is usually cheaper than the sale price at Vons and I don't have to load anything. I should've made the switch sooner. My Walmart isn't crazy busy so it's possible to get in and out in a hurry.

In all my years of couponing, there's never been so little talk about Black Friday. It makes sense since it's not even a good week at the drugstores. I see a few deals but nothing that I'm super excited about. If they aren't going to do anything special for Black Friday, they should close and give their employees the day off. We'll survive a day without CVS or Wags.

This is something I've been thinking about doing. Our son has done all his shopping at WM for years and sometimes tells me he can't understand why I do not. Our local store - Hy-Vee - has been having less and less what I consider decent sale offers and also makes one jump through more hoops to get the sales. And even when I do load the coupons it has become hit or miss if they actually come off. I've taken to printing out multiple things every week and it's getting insane - first I print out the linked UPCs since most coupon offers are on 'selected items' and then I print out a list of my 'loaded coupons' so I can show the person at the customer service desk that I do indeed have the coupon loaded and hope they are willing to honor them. All this after waiting in line at the customer service desk. So I'm thinking WM may be a good alternative or maybe Aldi.

Is everybody going to other websites to talk about deals or are things so bad at the drugstores that you aren't doing it anymore? I wonder if Ibotta has changed couponing so much that you just see what the best offers are and buy them regardless of what the product is.

I love the select offers wording. It gives the store an out if your transaction doesn't work even when it should. Many stores don't even have the sale tags up so you don't know what the select offers are. I guess that you can sit there with your phone for 20 minutes trying to figure it out but I have to go back to the convenience thing. I shouldn't need my phone to buy a box of cereal.

Not me, since I don't now or ever did have a cel phone. I prefer it that way.

I also don't like cell phones. I guess that it makes us weird. You can't even get a pizza or burger at McDonald's without a cell phone. I hate it. Why can't you just walk into a store and buy things? I was born 30 years too late. I would've been much happier in a world with less technology. Being fair, I wouldn't be alive right now if not for the advances in medicine over the last 15 years and I probably would've been killed in a war long before that. I guess that life is always going to be messed up. All I know is that I hate the world that we live in today.

I guess the email verification will hit me soon, but so far it hasn't come to Texas for Randalls, my Vons equivalent.

Walmart here is crazy busy, all day every day. I try to only go when I want one or two specific things and am willing to put up with having to ask the employees about certain things and then use their SCOs. I don't mind the SCO at CVS, but Walmart's treats you way different in my opinion.

I wish we had an Aldis! I would definitely try it. Besides the constant crowd at our WM, the other thing I've found is their meat is crazy expensive here. By watching the sales and checking the clearance section at Randalls, I can get meat cheaper there than anywhere else. I got a very pretty, 3/4 lb New York Strip steak this week at Randalls for $2.80, along with over two pounds of huge chicken wings for $2.30. I can get other chicken for less than $1.15 a pound at Randalls, but hubby likes wings so I buy them when I find a really good price.

I do CVS and a little Walgreens now (mostly since I get hubby's prescriptions there), but I think many of us who chatted about them a lot in the past have figured out the more we share about our deals, the less deals there are for us. As an example, the toothpaste shelves at the CVS I shop at the most are practically bare, and truck came on Monday. I don't see many couponers in there anymore, so this could be a warehouse issue or a store issue, but it makes it hard to put together the best deal.

I used to be CVS mainly Wink but have expanded out.
For me, it seems like it's usually just oral care & Cottonelle/Kleenex @ CVS now. We used to get makeup all the time (ie CGirl) but that's getting rarer and rarer, as we're not getting decent crt.
If I want cleaning / household supplies now - I'm more likely to get at Target + pair it with some app / GC offer. I used to wait for cleaning to go 70% @ CVS and get then, but stores having quantity was/is an issue, whereas I know that Target will have enough Clorox, Lysol, Ziploc, AirWick to satisfy my needs. With Target - I realized that I just have to pay it all up-front & get most of it back via some app + I'm okay with $1ish per on Lysol (that'll be about 75% off reg retail).
I remember last year - I was wanting scented oils (ie Glade, Airwick, Febreze) and was focused on getting it at CVS, but now I've discovered the joys of ib + more scented options @ Target Ha ha
