Ok, what is a "non-prescription drug"???? OTC?
I had an interesting situation earlier this year that could fall into this category. I ended up going to an eye specialist after waking up with a severe pain in one eye and it also would not stop watering. I was diagnosed with having Anterior Basement Membrane Dystrophy (ABMD) which is something I had never heard of. I can tell you it sure can be painful when the top layer is torn off of one's cornea because your eyelid stuck to it overnight. I never thought an eye could hurt so much.

So anyway, to help in the healing process the doctor prescribed an ointment. The only way to get it was at a pharmacy but when picked up it was categorized as an 'over the counter drug' (even though one could not get it without a prescription) and insurance did not cover it. I don't know if this categorization was done by my insurance company/prescription manager or its just the way this and possibly other prescription drugs are, but it was a first for me.

Imo, just another way for insurance companies to not have to pay for something.

And to top it off, I was to use it for 30 days, which I did, and on day 32 I get a letter from CVS saying to quit using the product as it has been recalled and could be harmful. Can't believe they didn't call with this information but instead relied on snail mail. These kinds of things seem to happen to me for some reason. Guess I'm just lucky???

In my case, the insurance company was right not to cover the muscle relaxant because it can be addictive and cause a lot of problems for people my age (60's). I had 10 level pain on my left side from my neck down to my fingers and nothing they had given me had worked. Flexeril was another thing that didn't work. Finally, they tried Neurontin which did work but OMG the side effects. If you aren't in 10 level pain, my advice would be not to take it because you'll be in bed for a week and feel worse than you've ever felt in your life. Then they switched me to Lyrica and it was just as bad if not worse. However, the nerve drugs did what they were supposed to do which was to get rid of the pain and it has never come back. I'd take the trade-off because the pain was so bad that I couldn't handle it. For anything less than severe nerve pain, I'd do some research first to make sure that you really want to take it.

I tend to have very bad reactions to drugs. They'll give me a 30 day supply and I'll know right away that I can't take it again. It's such a waste of the other 29 tablets. They need to come up with a better way to try drugs before you get a big supply of them. It gets complicated when it's not easy for you to get around. I have periods where I can function ok and I have other periods when I can't and they want to make it easier for me but things like this drive up the cost of insurance plus it's such a waste of the drugs.

I watched some more of The Bear. Episode 7 in Season One was something else. I'll keep on watching. I definitely have characters that I like and don't like. My favorite character is Sydney. My least favorite character is the baker. I hated the guy with the big mouth at first but he's grown on me.

I like season 1, but some episodes in season one gave me a real big headache. I thought that season two was much better.

Something like Tylenol if you have pain but don't want to take Norco. A stool softener would be another one. Vitamins. I have multiple vitamin deficiencies plus anemia. It can also be prescription drugs that your insurance won't cover like Flexeril in my case because of my age. It didn't work anyway. There's so much waste when they give you a 30 day supply of something and you take one pill and have a bad reaction. It's no big deal if it's something like Tylenol but what if it's Brilinta and the average cost of a 30 day supply is over $500?
Thanks

I agree. There was so much fighting at the start that it was hard to watch. I'm a few episodes into Season Two now. I'm wondering what's going to happen between the chef and the doctor that he gave the wrong number to. And why did he give her the wrong number? I wouldn't have done that lol.

My sale went absolutely crazy this morning. I had a mob waiting for me when I got there at 6:45 and it was 41 degrees outside. I hit my goal for the day before I even had my table set up. The sad thing is that I could've done double if I had the inventory but it was a slow shopping week so I did what I could. I had one lady who started off with a $60 order and then kept on coming back to spend another $5. She must've come back 20 times. A lot of people were doing multiple orders or driving to the ATM and coming back for more. Maybe I was too cheap or something. It was a normal sale as far as inventory goes. I took last Saturday off for Thanksgiving so maybe they were worried that I wasn't going to be there anymore.

Fantastic and good for you! I always enjoyed having a sale go that way. I had folks that would have me hold an order for them while they ran to get cash as it was usually the only form of payment I took. And I would have my regulars that would always come back year after year. Some were so sure what I would say that they would reply for me. If someone would complain that they could probably get the same price at WM (which they could not) my comeback was always 'at least at my sale you don't have to pay the sales tax' and often a regular shopper would respond with this to a complainer. Always made me chuckle.

Shopping these days is like being at a poker table and only getting two cards instead of five and wondering why you never win.

I'm drawing a total blank on deals this week. I was thinking that I'd go to RA this morning and see if I can find anything but with no sale tags up and no paper ad it would just be a waste of time.

It's so frustrating. My sale could really get going and I'm willing to put in the work but there just aren't any good deals. I have no idea what I'm going to do for this week. I spent all my extra bucks at CVS. I'd be willing to pay cash to get going again but on what? I don't see any deals that work for me. I've given up on Wags so it's just RA. This past week was horrible at RA and next week looks even worse even with a 10/50. I can't find one deal that I want to do. I was exhausted after my sale today but I still went to RA to try to get something going but you can't get water from a stone.
Sorry I can't be of any help as I've been out of the shopping loop for so long. Even before moving over five years ago to a city with no RA or CVS and only two Wags on the other end of town, I hadn't done a lot of shopping due to my limited mobility which has only gotten worse. Pretty much anything I want to buy now I have to ask my husband to get for me and then the list must be very straight forward hopefully with no glitches or I don't get what I want. He does not have the patience which is often needed. Fortunately it was just a hobby for me, one that generated a nice return while it lasted but was not needed for our budget.

I was on my Easter egg hunt this morning and I wound up at a CVS that I used to be a regular at. I was actually there for RA (which is next door) but I figured that I'd stick my head in at CVS and say hi. I was shocked to see that the store was all boarded up and closed. This was a very busy store in a very busy shopping center. I wanted to cry. I used to go there 25 years ago to rent movies when it was a Longs. I didn't do the drugstore stuff back then unless I actually needed something. I was a regular at that CVS up until covid started but after that I hardly went.

I don't work for CVS so I have no way to get the memo (if there even is one). I got a heads up from an extremely good source that I've known for a long time and I'm confident that he wouldn't tell me anything that wasn't correct. I can't ask my source if there's a memo and if I can make a copy of it so that I can post it on SD. He'd never talk to me again. I didn't feel comfortable posting what I did yesterday but you've been so helpful that I posted anyway. That's the best that I can do.

I've seen a snippet of the memo this morning, and there is a date of 12/14 on what I saw, but it appears there is more to it that I didn't see. I didn't see a date of 1/14, but it could be in the rest of the memo. What I saw is not mine to share here. If I get a copy from an employee, I will share the memo in the CVS coupon thread.
