That may be true because at Thanksgiving, my cheese sauce and a yam dish had so much separation, even though everything was the same as I used before. I don't know what happened. Did anyone else have a problem with cheese sauce separating?

The manus changed a lot of ingredients in their products giving consumers cheaper ingredients. It's universal as numerous brands altered their products hoping people don't notice.

We do notice, but often it takes awhile for some items we don't use a lot. They don't think we notice that contents are decreasing, but prices go up on a myriad of products. Many shoppers aren't as savvy as we couponers and merely grab a familiar item and don't check on size/price as much as we do.

I noticed that the White Lily Pound Cake recipe that uses box mix now calls for 2 boxes of mix to make it. One box (half recipe) will make the half bundt pan size.

I feel this when I look at my Mom's and my Grandmom's recipes. 1 sq of unsweetened chocolate in a recipe USED to be a 1 oz square.
Now it might be 4 sqs or 2 sqs instead to be 1 oz.

Food really doesn't taste as good now as it used to. I remember back in grade school that I'd pop a frozen dinner into the oven and it tasted pretty good (microwaves had come out but we didn't have one). I liked Van de Kamp's macaroni (it had an awesome crust) and Swanson's Mexican dinner (now it's so bad that you can't eat it). Van de Kamp's breaded halibut was pretty good, too. McDonald's fries were awesome back in the day but now they're just blah. I got brave and tried a McDonald's cheeseburger the other day. It's gone up to $2.70. Honestly, it's one of the worst tasting things that I've ever had. And don't get me started on Coke. Ralphs had some of the original taste variety and I didn't notice it when I bought it. I'm going why does this Coke taste so good and when I looked at the red box I had my answer. It's amazing how much the price of food has gone up and how bad it is compared to what it used to be. You can say that for a lot of things. Music would be a prime example. I don't think we'll ever have bands that can rival the great bands of the 60's and 70's. The Beatles, Stones, Doors, Pink Floyd, and The Archies. I'm groovin' to Sugar, Sugar right now We'll never have lyrics like this again.

Sugar
Oh, honey, honey
You are my candy girl
And you got me wanting you

I couldn't come up with a funny reply. This has been a really bad week for me. On Wednesday, I messed up two Wags orders because I couldn't put the right stuff on the counter. I ended up walking out with nothing and the store had exactly what I wanted and I'm sure that they're pissed off at me and they should be because it was 100% my fault. Yesterday I went to RA, didn't buy anything, and then I got stuck in the parking lot because the street was a river from the heavy rain. The water was rushing down the hill and was over the curb. On Monday, there was another traffic accident in front of where I live and I couldn't get home because the police had everything blocked off. The same thing happened a week ago. It's what happens when people go 30 mph over the speed limit in heavy rain. I'm getting no sleep thanks to my heart meds and my brain is in a total fog. When I'm able to work out a deal, I screw it up when I go to the store. I wish that I could say that this is a temporary thing. The weather will get better but I won't. I had another surgery 4 months ago and I had to go back to the hospital 4 times because of complications. The last time I had a heart issue and they coded me because my heart rate went down to 24 and I had to go to Intensive Care. I stopped breathing and I haven't been the same since.

I hope having so many friends here on SD helps, where you can express your thoughts and have a few laughs

I have modest hopes for today. I hope that my internet doesn't crash. It's very slow right now. I hope that I can find something good to watch on Hulu tonight. I got bored with The Bear. Any suggestions are appreciated. I'm more of a drama person than comedy (oops, I just realized what I said - buttorskotch would have a field day with this lol). I hope that it stops raining so that I can go shopping. I think that it will. I hope that it absolutely pours tomorrow so that I don't have to do my sale. I have a canopy so a little rain won't cancel it and I'll just get wet. I have nothing for the sale. I sold out of everything last week. This week I've had 3 shopping days rained out and I haven't done much on the days that I could shop. I don't have a stockpile that I can borrow from. I'll just do what I can do and if people are disappointed that's just too bad. I tried. There's nothing more that I can do. I really hope that when I go to Walgreens (to a different store, there's no way that I'm going back to the store that I screwed up in) that I can put the right stuff on the counter this time.

A couple of suggestions that I used to do to try and keep things straight - separate items into different areas of the cart - seat, front half and back half of cart, etc. - or even use two carts if you can manage moving two around. Also, write lists. Before going to the store (this includes item, size, price, coupons (digital or paper), etc.) and then making any notations of changes on the list or while shopping even a new, simpler list where you just write down each item that goes for each order and then use this list to grab each item out of the cart. And go slowly if you have to. Other folks take their time so no reason to rush. Good luck on a better shopping trip today!

I did everything you said. I spent hours in prep. I forgot to give a Tide to the cashier which was a $25 mistake. I was thrown off by a lady who was following me around the store and then watching me at the register. I think that she thought that I was an "extreme couponer" or something. I was an extreme idiot for sure but there was nothing special about my 2 orders. After I got the refund on the first order, I had her ring it up again. I don't know why I thought that the 2nd transaction would work when the first one didn't. Obviously, the same thing happened. I said thank you and walked away from the register. I was just going to eat it until I saw the two Tides in my cart and had an aha moment. The first cashier had left and a new one was up there so I went up and told her what happened and did the second refund. I lost my dq's with the refund so I couldn't re-do my orders and I was so frustrated with myself that I left. I really wanted to buy that stuff. I had spent all day working on the order but I failed in the execution and it was so stupid. Then I drove 5 miles to RA. It went from light rain to a total downpour. I sat in my car for 15 minutes and the rain was getting worse so I said forget it and went home. On the way home, I realized that I needed to get something for dinner so I ran into Vons. I couldn't make up my mind on anything so I got a frozen dinner that I had never had before but it was so bad that I couldn't eat it. The whole week has been like this. Actually, as far as shopping goes, I've been like this for a few months now. I make mistake after mistake. I try as hard as I can not to make any mistakes but I keep on screwing up. After my surgery in late August, I haven't been able to sleep so maybe that's it. I always get insomnia when I have a surgery but this time I think it's from my meds. Without going into the details, I was up around 20 times last night going to the bathroom. That's a typical night for me. Maybe I get an hour or two of sleep but that's it. I used to be able to take naps in the daytime but I can't do that anymore. I have to take the meds otherwise I'll blow up like a balloon. It's one of the things that my failed surgery was supposed to fix. The heart meds are also making me bruise and bleed again. My arms were all healed but now I'm like Frankenstein.

I'm sorry. It sucks to be sick and not get better. I know from experience. I pretty much stay in the house - started out day after day and now that's it's turned into year after year I guess it's starting to get to me. I couldn't even get the motivation to write any holiday/end-of-year letters to those far-away friends that we no longer keep in touch with on a regular basis. As the few that I still get started trickling in, I felt so guilty for not returning. So now I'm playing catch up by either sending a letter with a happy new year's greeting or just trying to get an email sent. Hard to do when most of anything I have to write about is medical/illness related. Oh well, that's life.

I'm so sorry you had such a bad day. Sometimes, it helps to just hang out at home and read a book. I remember those Calgon commercials when the woman is in the backseat of a limo and there's a bathtub in the floor. She opens it up and soaks in it while the chauffeur drives. "Calgon take me away!" I send you hopes that you can find such a place of calm over the holidays.
