I wanted to ask you if you've ever considered getting a stool or bench for in the shower. It could help if/when fainting - you wouldn't fall as far or maybe not at all if you get a bench with side bars on it. I used to use one occasionally but now do so everyday to prevent falls in the shower.
I guess we just had a big earthquake here. They said 4.7 on tv. I missed the whole thing. I was driving home from CVS.

I thought you gave up driving and were only walking?

That starts on Monday. I'm taking my double dose of potassium and I no longer have the numbness in my legs. However, I do have chest pain and shortness of breath when I take it.

So far the Super Bowl is a dud. Tony Romo is driving me crazy and I haven't seen a commercial that I liked.

Agreed. So far, nothing exciting about this Super Bowl.

Maybe it'll be like that Tom Brady comeback in the 4th quarter a few years ago. I was shopping at a CVS and walked a few stores down to The Habit to get a burger. There was a place next to it that had a big screen tv outside with the football game on and there was a big crowd. I stayed there and watched the rest of the game. What a comeback! It made up for a lot of bad Super Bowls.

My Super Bowl ratings: I'll give the game a C. By the time it got interesting, I didn't care. The announcers get a F. I wish that there was a lower grade that I could give Tony Romo. The commercials were a F. I didn't like any of them and some I absolutely hated like the one with Arnold. The halftime show was a F. Overall, it was worse than a Wags shopping trip.

*snip* The serious answer is that you shouldn't use marijuana if you have a heart condition. *snip*
This is not true. It varies by patient and there are cardiologists that will recommend the use of cannabinoids for specific patients with specific conditions.

I agree, great advice.

What's sad is at least one of the people who I know took more because it wasn't hitting fast enough is normally smarter than that, and I thought she knew better. But then, reading responses to her posts shows it happens all too much. Or maybe in her case, other friends of hers were trying to help her downplay her mistake.
That is sad. Hopefully all was well and if she is inclined to try again she starts low and slow.

Because it may help do what you are hoping it does? Imho, before eating anything - food, medication, vitamins, liquids, etc. - folks don't really know how something is going to affect them and how long a possible negative effect is going to last. So if you ever put anything into your body that you haven't done so before (or even that you have), a risk is being taken.
Yes! You can even OD on water, of all things.

It's also true that an allergy or sensitivity can come on suddenly even after ingesting a product for years without problems. Many years ago I took a mom and kids cooking class at a community college. One day, the instructor, after many years of showing a recipe with shrimp, suddenly went into anaphylactic shock when eating it. It was quite severe and 911 was called. She had no previous problems with shrimp or any shell fish.
Thats super scary!

This quote is from harvardhealth.edu

One of the few things scientists know for sure about marijuana and cardiovascular health is that people with established heart disease who are under stress develop chest pain more quickly if they have been smoking marijuana than they would have otherwise. This is because of complex effects cannabinoids have on the cardiovascular system, including raising resting heart rate, dilating blood vessels, and making the heart pump harder. Research suggests that the risk of heart attack is several times higher in the hour after smoking marijuana than it would be normally.

While this does not pose a significant threat to people who have minimal cardiovascular risk, it should be a red flag for anyone with a history of heart disease. Although the evidence is weaker, there are also links to a higher risk of atrial fibrillation or ischemic stroke immediately following marijuana use. Consistent with these links, studies also suggest that marijuana smoking may increase the long-term death rate among heart attack survivors.

It certainly isn't safe for someone like me who has had 5 heart attacks in the last year and a half to take marijuana. In order for a cardiologist to say it's safe, he'd have to do thousands of dollars of test such as a chemical stress test and echocardiogram and even then it's possible to get a false result from the tests. I'm not anti-marijuana but if you have cardiac issues marijuana is not the drug for you. We can disagree on this and that's fine but as someone who's been through the mill with cardiac issues my advice is don't take it.

And my advice to anyone considering cannabinoid use for medical issues is not to take the advice of randos on a couponing forum but rather do your own research and decide what is right for you and your specific situation. Not all cardiac issues are equal. And cannabinoids are more than just smoking marijuana.

ETA: I only keep coming back because I do not want someone who has been considering cannabinoid use for medical issues to read what some negative opinions are and not even consider to further research it to decide if it's right for him. It can be life changing for some. And also, shouldnt be used by some others. Each person needs to make that call and do the research to enable himself to make that call.

Harvard has ruled out marijuana use for people with established heart disease. For everybody else, you can make the decision with your cardiologist. What am I saying that's wrong and why are you so pissed off at me?

The three questions I have about marijuana use are

1. If marijuana isn't safe for heart patients, should that make it illegal for
everyone else?

2. If alcohol is legal, shouldn't marijuana also be legal?

3. Do people have the right to drink or smoke pot even if it means getting in a
car and driving drunk or high?

As far as I can tell that study is for smoking marijuana in higher doses daily. There simply arent many rigorous studies on marijuana because of their narcotic designation. This is why I'd encourage anyone that's considering cannabinoid use to do their own research and talk with their doctors to determine what is comfortable use (or not) for each person.

How you get from me encouraging people to do their own research about cannabinoids after you give "facts" about marijuana use to me being pissed off at you is a route I do not understand.

My own plan for getting better is to give up driving and walk everywhere, take as little meds as possible, and avoid RR deals at Wags (the most important thing on the list). I'd put eating better on the list but I won't do it. I overdid it yesterday and walked 10 miles. I had to go to the DMV which was 8 miles and then I went to a Mexican restaurant last night which was 2 miles. My heart did fine but my legs aren't used to walking that much and are sore. I want to go to CVS today but that's a 3 mile walk and I'm not sure that I can make it. I was excited about the detergent clearance but then I realized that I'm not doing my sale anymore and I'm walking.

laugh out loud I hear ya. Need my treats in order to stay sane.

That's a good amount of walking. In 2021 or 2022 I challenged myself to million step May. Just to make the math a bit easier I actually wanted to do it in 4 weeks. Worked out to around 36,00 steps a day or approximately 18 miles per day. My ankles, which werent great before, were rubbish after. These days I try to stay between 15,000 and 20,000 a day. All this to say, dont give yourself a secondary injury. Take care, I would miss you if you werent around.
