Actually, we have 6 of these (they're the only ones we use in our house) and it does use the unifying dongle. I don't care much for the mouse- I prefer the 7-button plus scroll wheel M510 (but they have cheap switches and fail pretty quickly). Look at the back of the keyboard and you'll see the unifying logo right next to "K270" embossed into the plastic near the bottom edge, right under about where the right ALT key is.

I had read that MK270 had Unifying feature but recently and quietly changed the MK270 and removed the Unifying feature. Did you recently buy yours or have you had them for some time?
I've got a bunch of orphaned Unifying receivers. I wonder if the KB and mouse would actually pair with a Unifying receiver? I'll have to try.
Yup, this model used to have the Unifying dongle, I owned 2 that had it. Since then they switched to a different dongle. I find the signal is not as good and will sometimes randomly interfere or drop keystrokes.
I still use it daily, and I'm grabbing 1-2 more since I like them still.
Just a heads-up that AMEX has an offer you can add to your card (YMMV) to get $5 back off of an Ebay purchase of $15 and up effectively getting the keyboard down to $15!
Recycle any old tech item/a battery etc when you first arrive, earn $5 in rewards payable in Dec and get a $10/off 30 Q valid in store that day.. even if you recycled already for Nov, you'll still get the Q. but won't earn another $5.
If your store is OOS, have them order this with ship to home for you on their handheld device, you'll check out at the register.
Add $10.01 to your order of anything you like (breakroom paper goods, office supplies).be sure all items are run up together (ship to home and B&M items)
Use the $10/30 from your recycle receipt, pay $20 plus tax just like you would online. YOU CAN USE REWARDS TO PAY AS WELL.

I have purchased this set twice in the past. Mouse and keyboard paired to a single USB, which is very convenient. The both keyboards are still working after 3 years but the mouse died after the first year. $20 for this workhorse of a keyboard is totally worth it IMO. The annoying part is that I need to take up a USB spot for a replacement mouse. Don't know how to get a replacement mouse to work on the same usb dongle as the keyboard.

This does not come with a unifying dongle! Your keyboard is compatible with the unifying receiver. The logo is should be on the dongle and it is not.
I love the keyboard the battery life seeems to last forever.
and it uses standard AAA battery as oppose to intergrated recharable that will die and making the keybaord useless in a few years.
geting another set..
not a fan of the mouse though but i"m using to the 305 and G502.
You are misleading ppl here. The posted combo doesn't have a unifying receiver. If you search the entire eBay page, nowhere it mentions "unifying". Instead, Logitech calls it "nano receiver".

You can also add an AMEX offer to your card (YMMV) to get $15 back off of a $50 purchase if you plan to buy 3 keyboards.

Doesn't really say K270 on the box but it looks the same. We use them for all the PCs in the office
