I have the mini…. I'm a bit disappointed to see it hasn't changed at all in 8 years since I got mine. That said, it has worked reliably for those 8 years. Only now it seems the buttons are hit or miss response wise but it still works fine
Did you expect them to add a feature where it washes your dishes for you??

That escalated quickly… no.
One would expect them to make at least one change after 8 years.. or the price should've come down significantly. The discount price is hardly less than what I paid for it 8 years ago.
I saw the other thread for the Joule version in brushed black stainless steal, but $449 feels like overkill and probably is since this would be my first multi purpose unit like this.
As a note, I am unlikely to use the air fry function much at all. I prefer the basket style and will have a cheap one as a companion to whichever Breville I may pick up.
I own the older Pro (BOV800XL) and the Breville Air (BOV900).
The Joule (BOV950) is the same as Breville Air, but you can also turn it on remotely with your phone. This is huge because you can turn it on to preheat, then 5 min later walk to the freezer (for example) and take out a frozen pizza, walk over to the already-preheated-oven and put it in.
You can do this EVERY time you use the oven, so it's big.
The dumb recipe app stuff is worthless to me. I believe you can also change the temperature remotely with the app, so if you want it hotter at first, or last, you can add your bias without a trip to the oven.
I will get the Joule if it drops $50 more, but sadly, I doubt it will for awhile. They have a good stronghold on pricing, and frustrating as it is, life is much easier if you pay it.
That all said, I've seen very inexpensive ovens coming out with same features as Breville and I'm sure you can do tons with them.
I've dehydrated, made beef jerky, pizzas with a 1/4" 13" pizza steel, and also 12" cast iron round. I've made slow 4, 6, 7 hour slow cooks of brisket, short ribs, chuck roast, ox tail, beef ribs. Chef John's Greek Lemon chicken with potatoes is my girlfriend's favorite, and probably is yours too.
You really can make it all in these ovens.
I do not use it for air frying. I have an air frier. The Breville is too mission critical to get filthy.
I have the BOV900BSS model and I can tell you it's one of the best appliances in my house. I highly highly recommend it.
Living in a household size of two, this is easily our most-used appliance. We rarely use the oven anymore unless a recipe necessitates a pan larger than 9"x13". It's amazing for pretty much everything else that wouldn't be ideal to cook/reheat in a microwave.
Bought the mini (BOV450XL) in 2016 for $150 which was full price. This thing has gotten a ton of use and is probably my favorite kitchen appliance purchase. We use it for everything - toast, bacon, salmon, reheating leftovers and pizza, etc. One of the few things i've purchased that works flawlessly for a long time.
After reading the contents here, I think the Cafe Couture oven might crush any of the Breville in the air frying department? It certainly looks much better than any of the generic appearances of the Breville. What do you guys think?

And how is the air fryer? That will be my main use but reading about the air fryer from others has me apprehensive
I've used it a couple of times, but not for anything that I would consider 'frying.' I buy those frozen, uncooked chicken breasts from Costco, and instead of 450 for 25min, I was able to get them fully cooked and nice and crispy using 400 for 20min. I also air fried some nachos and they turned out great.
I also stayed away from the step up, as it seems like the only difference is the App, which I saw was pretty useless.
So far so good, though! Toast/bagels come out awesome every day.
It is bigger than my last toaster oven, but I have room for it, and I think it'll actually be able to take over some things I normally have to cook in my big oven.

I've had the BOV900BSS for almost 5 years now. Definitely one of my favorite kitchen appliances. Zojirushi rice cooker being the other.
IMO, the air fryer is great for reheating things like fried chicken, but I wouldn't cook anything that splatters a lot in it since clean up isn't easy.
I went with the 900 for 2 reasons: size and # of heating elements. Size for obvious reasons and more heating elements for more even cooking.

I have it also and definitely the most used appliance in the house. Check Home Goods to see if they have for $299.99.
Same here... I love this appliance. Hardly ever use my reg oven.
I really appreciate all the feedback! I took the day to think about my needs (and my modest space) and found that the BOV860 is mostly to cover what I need.
While not deal related, I had a gift card balance and a good chunk of Discover Cash back for Amazon that made the purchase much more palatable. Looking forward to its arrival tomorrow!

I have had the 900 model for about four years I will tell you that you will use this oven more often than you think. It will be your daily go to oven and your holiday workhorse. Just be careful with baking times. These bake faster than big ovens. Decrease the time you need and check the food and increase time if you need to. Once you learn your oven then you won't have to babysit the food much.
