Forewarning for any AceMagic computer, there is literally spyware packaged into the OS image that they're using. Don't believe me? Whoever buys this deal, open up the strangely preinstalled firefox and check your default search engine. It is straight up redirecting through some VERY recently registered domains and then reroutes you through a bing search. That was enough for me to see before I wiped it.

File permissions are also all sorts of farked up. Just flash your own drive and install from your own iso.

Yes but you should wipe and fresh install on any PC today. I never trust a pre-installed OS. Ever.

The Beelink S12 Pro is currently on sale for $151 and it comes with N100. Wouldn't that be a better choice?

Looks to be Realtek nics unfortunately.. The Beelink EQ12 seems like a good pfSense / OPNsense option at a ~$200 price (2 Intel i225-v 2.5Gbe nics).
Its kinda strange they mention pfsense on their main page, plus the comments of he link you mentioned point to intel nic225. So confusing...

do not buy anything from AceMagic, poor reputation, poor service, and delayed forever shipment, only reason they can post deal is because they paid this ad.

Huh, that's weird. Maybe the article is incorrect. The author indicates it has i225v's in the comments which contradicts his own article. Unsure

You should always wipe any 'pre-built' computer. Even from major manufacturers.

What do folks use these things for? Tempted to buy one, but not sure what i'd do aside from maybe make it a media center PC or something similar.

I currently have a full size pc running 24/7 to do qbittorrent, radarr, sonarr, prowlarr, and bizarr. Basically to download and manage all my media. I was dead-set on getting a mini pc to replace it until I borrowed a friend's kill-a-watt and found that the pc is running at 10-15 watts most of the time anyway (once I pulled out the GPU). I also run Plex Server on it as a backup in case my Shield plex server dies.

But now I'm moving to Debrid/Stremio and I might shut all that down.

I've sold many of them for use as office computers.

For $145, Does this have a legit version of windows 11 pro installed?
The key is baked into the BIOS so reformatting still shows it as a valid key. I haven't had any ever come back and say it isn't legit.

These are useful for basic workstations like I use one as my shipping center computer to process online orders and make labels. Some people use these are low power servers at home. Also great for basic web browsing and other meanial tasks

Another good option is the "mini firewall" based around the Pentium Gold 8505 for around $180.

Single thread performance is way better than the N100 and it supports up to 64GB of RAM, so you can put together a pretty beefy setup for things like Proxmox running tons of VMs.

As for NICs, the one I picked up has 4x Intel i226 Ethernet ports all running at 2.5Gb, so it avoids some of the issues and configuration quirks that are required with the i225-v.

Also, a lot of these mini PCs with multiple NICs have trouble with sustained throughput on concurrent connections, so they can hit a wall if, for instance, you have fiber internet.
