I bought 2 knipex tools from toolz on amazon and they are legit. I think they are selling these meant to be sold on Europe and in Europe they are cheaper

They're also in bulk packaging instead of individual retail.

anyone used these clippers specifically? surprisingly they have a fakespot of F with complaints from some users saying you need 3 hands to use them. They are advertised as being able to cut all the way down to 1/0 gauge but someone with 6ga power cable said they couldn't get these to work.

Deal seams slick but possibly the product is poorly designed for the purpose? Hard to tell.

just by looking at these, they will cut 1/0 (stranded wire)but it wont be fun. i would guess 2ga would be all you want, if you need to cut multiple cables

if you need for bigger cable, just get some generic cable cutters(not bolt cutters) with 12" handles

I have the non stepcut version and they go through 4ga copper like butter. These are *supposed* to be even better. Maybe some users are trying to cut steel cable with them.

The jaws on these cutters may open wide enough to cut thick cable but these cutters are only 6 1/2" long so you're not going to have much leverage to cut through thick stuff. I recommend getting any cutters with longer handles. Dikes at least 8", sidecutters 9", cable cutters at least 9", etc.

4awg isn't that thick. Knipex 9" sidecutters can cut that size wire.

Shears are much better for cutting fine stranded cables than side cutters. They give you a nice, clean cut vs side/ diagonal cutters which pinch the cable. Also, less force is needed. The 6.25" ones are pretty small though and I don't use them on anything bigger than 4ga. I have 10" shears for cutting cables bigger than that.
