With the dell Amex promo ($120 off any 599 purchase) this rings in a little bit over $1800. This is more then I need but going a bit overboard since I don't tend to upgrade/refresh for long.

Is there any value/sense in trying to wait for a better deal this holiday? I'm not hurting for cash but just trying to be reasonable here (I know this isn't necessarily a "reasonable" gaming pc to buy lol)

On the off-chance, this price is beat on Black Friday you'd still be in the return window. I doubt it goes lower though at least substantially.

Same. I have a card and I asked 2 others as well who each have a card. None of us get them.

That's a good thought, I can just keep checking in over the next month if there's a price difference.

With RAM being cheap as heck there's no reason why a $2000 machine doesn't have 32GB imo.

Any thoughts on the $1299 version of this Alienware R16 with the 500w power supply, no liquid cooling, and 4060 GPU?

I don't understand why people are willing to spend $2000 for such a machine that they can build it themselves with better parts.
I would never do that either but I understand why people don't want to or can't. That said, this is a terrible deal, for $2000, you would think they would give you 32GB of RAM at a minimum. With the SUPER series around the corner in 2 months, getting a 4080 now would give you buyer's remorse when the 4080 SUPER comes out cheaper and faster if multiple rumor sources are to be believed.

I think most people, myself included appreciate a quick buy without worrying and looking into compatibility of parts. I used to love building a computer but over time, it's just easier to buy prebuilt. Different strokes for different folks.

I'm in for one of these. I think it's a good deal and pricing per part it's like pretty decent. Id probably swap my ram from my other computer for the 32 and then add my other ssds to have a bit more storage. Price to beat imo for a 4080 prebuilt (specifically prebuilt)

For me the effort and research I would need to conduct to build my own just isn't worth it. If there are errors/troubleshooting at some point the cost savings for me won't be worth the stress/effort. There's a bit of laziness added to all of that also.

It's almost always cheaper to build a PC, but it can be stressful and time-consuming. With some decent cononent deals, I just built a custom PC with a 7950X3D, 32 GB, 1000 watts PSU, 670E MB, 2gb fast NVME, and RTX 4090 for $2,800. But the first motherboard was defective and made a 3 hour build into a 10 hour ordeal trying to identify the issue, disassembling the PC, exchanging the part, and rebuilding. It was not enjoyable.

If you need a prebult gaming PC now, this is decent. Otherwise, consider waiting for the Nvidia refresh in January.
