It depends. Windshields, larger pieces like the yellow cement mixer pieces, figures, all change that math. The passenger jets are the best example of this.

The problem is that all the price increases of the last few years have bollixed up the older calculations. Still, even with all of that this set is monstrously overpriced for the list price of $20, and it feels a little overpriced at $12.80. Part of that could be the price point is just right as an emergency present for a surprise little kid birthday invite, and I suspect Lego is very aware of that. I took to purchasing extra sets of this type for just that purpose when my son was little.

FYI there are a LOT of little girls and their parents who happier with Lego sets rather than something like another Barbie or Disney princess doll when they already have enough for an army. Not necessarily the stereotypical "little girl" marketed sets, either. Just ask the parents when you get the invite. Lots of us have learned to keep a stash of surprise BD invite presents, and the parents appreciate a toy that won't just sit on a shelf.

10 cents a piece or less. I don't care about price increase math, LEGO prices have gone up as Lego pieces have gotten much smaller.

This set is a 4+ set which has HUGE pieces and all prints, no stickers. The blue bottom of the truck is one big piece. The mixer I think is two big pieces.

$13 for this set is a fine price, not amazing, because you do get a decent little truck and some figures. If looking for gifts the $10 sets that are on sale all the time for $6.50-$7 are a much better deal and normally have mostly prints.
