I'd say this is a very solid bundle with great games if you don't already own a lot of them. All the games through the $10 tier are rated "very positive" or "overwhelmingly positive" on Steam. The two games in the $15 tier are rated "mixed".

The $10 tier is great, but I would look into Gotham Knights and Back 4 Blood to see if it's worth the extra $5 to get those two games in the $15 tier.

You needed to give Arkham more time, the first 10 hours are just them introducing all the different abilities and mechanics of the game before they let you loose. You essentially haven't even gotten past the tutorial.

12 highly rated games for $15 and it's still not good enough for some on this forum.

This is an insane deal if you don't already own most of the games. If any of you can point us in the direction of a better deal we will be all over it.

How are the LOTR games?
Thank you as well! I personally did not like the combat too much in Shadow of Mordor. Very block, parry, etc heavy yet zero margin of error. I prefer more fluid combat in games (similar in concept, not execution) for example Witcher 3. You can miss a parry by 1/4 of a second without basically throwing the entire fight. Doesn't feel like a quicktime event. Also you have the freedom to not block or parry if you don't want to. Games like Witcher 3 allow you to have your own combat style whereas you either fight like Shadow of Mordor or Mad Max tells you...or you fail...and fail hard.

If you liked Arkham, you'll probably love LOTR, Shadow of Mordor at least. Haven't tried the other.

Thank you so much! I'm not sure how I would feel about it after your description. Even Batman game you choices/ freedom of style. ...somewhat.

Similar combat feel to Batman. Different environment and varied gameplay. I played it a long time ago, but I really enjoyed them. The second LOTR is a refined version of the first, but both are good from what I remember. If you like the Batman or Mad Max games, then it is up your alley.

Anyone have experience with these on the steam deck?
Just wondering if any of them are good for handheld play.

I've played/own almost all of these. I'm not much of a mortal Kombat fan so, nothing to say there. Otherwise, this is a pretty solid action bundle, but you will have to like that counter timing style fighting that I think Batman started. The Batman's are too forgiving making the fighting easy, but still visually appealing and empowering like you really are a badass caped crusader. I think LOTR and mad Max did it better with balancing. You still can feel like a countering badass, but it requires more skill.

Gotham knights felt like a Disney ride. You couldn't even jump freely. Just when you approached a jumping edge and it was done for you. I felt so limited that I didn't get through 10 minutes before uninstalling. It looked pretty.

I really wanted to like Back for Blood, but the simple fact that you couldn't play as the infected makes left 4 dead 2 a much better game.

If I didn't already own most of these games, I'd get this bundle. Very solid.

Mad Max is one of those solid gems that got passed over because bigger releases came out around the same time. I'm usually not a big fan of open world sandbox games, but I played Mad Max from beginning to end. The vehicular combat really separated it from a lot of others in the genre.

Mad Max is good...technically. Got boring to me though as every encounter / fight / base felt about the same. Gameplay loop is very solid so if you are into the actual mechanics I could see 100 percenting it. I probably played for 10+ hours before I got bored so got my money's worth.

Recently tried Batman: Arkham Asylum and it was WAY too scripted for my liking. Lots and lots of story and full of (basically) quicktime events. Claimed to be open world but to me felt like I was being led down a tunnel for 10 minutes of gameplay then 5 minutes of rendered cutscenes then 10 more minutes of gameplay leading to even more cutscenes etc. Gave that cycle 4+ hours before uninstalling. I think the other Arkham games are similar but more open world (according to reviews at least). If you love Batman, interactive movies, and the story in general this is probably for you.

Middle-earth : Shadow of War combat (99% of the game) was too formulaic too me. Enemy moves this way hit A, enemy lunges hit B, etc. (Batman: Arkham Asylum and Mad Max combat also very similar). You could almost write a macro to handle fights for you.

Now, all of the above are some of the most highly reviewed and regarded games in PC game history. So I'm probably just the oddball.

Back 4 Blood is a lot of fun but just play Left 4 Dead 2. Better in every way. Not a slam on Back 4 Blood.
Arkham Asylum isn't really open world. Arkham City and Arkham Knight are.

Yeah, I don't remember it ever being advertised or sold as an open-world game. What I do remember when it came out was reviews referring it as a 3D Metroidvania, which is more accurate.
In any case, it was a ground-breaking game when it came out. Of course there's going to be a minority that doesn't care for it, but it's highly reviewed and regarded for a reason. It's a modern classic.
