Lmao I just literally bought the Mr Coffee machine. Please gives us feedback how it goes. Now I'm wondering.
I just received, unboxed, and cleaned up this Gourmia. So far generally speaking the Mr. Coffee is generally a better machine build quality wise, not a surprise given it is twice the MSRP. Also, I wondered how this could make Americano (which is supposed to be clean hot water added to an espresso, not water run through used grounds), and it does it by using the milk frother set to the "clean" setting which runs only water through the frotherwand thing. Clever, but also means you gotta have the frother installed to make a nonmilk drink. I make espresso on the Mr Coffee without installing the milk container which is convenient, not going to work for Americano, not a big deal though.

One thing I like about the Gourmia over the Mr Coffee is that the top cup warmer is an aluminum plate instead of the plastic one on the Mr Coffee, but other than that the Mr Coffee seems to be more generally well made (better plastics, more ergonomic features like the pull out elevated drip tray for small cups that the Gourmia doesn't have).

The big design difference that I see is with the portafilter and single/double shot filters. The Mr Coffee seems to have a much more effective design and to be much more well made. The Gourmia portafilter is cheaply cast compared to how the Mr Coffee portafilter is made, and the design of filters is... well I am not sure how the Gourmia stuff going to work well, especially over time. The best way I can explain is to post pics of both side by side to see what I mean.

I still have to clean the new machine and then test it out, I will post back with how it works (if it works, seems 50/50 after reading previous posts here laugh out loud) along with a few comparison pics.

just got the gourmia espresso machine, but the thing doesn't work!
The manual said after you turn on all the function will show up including clean, however only thing showed up on the control panel is manual espresso and espresso one shot or double shot, doesn't have any other function like capuccino, latte, americano or clean!

i didnt buy it yet but i read somewhere else you need to install the milk frother first before getting those options
Same problem here too after initial setup and reading the instructions. Came here to find the answer. Sure enough, my milk frother must not have been pushed in far enough to engage the sensor. I removed it and put it back in place. Once I did that, all of the icons for the various features lit up! Thanks!!

I made my first cup of espresso, double shot. Tasted great, I'm impressed! But I will say I'm a novice so...easily impressed. But the machine looks nice, feels nice and seems to work as expected. I'm happy with my 50$ purchase (also ordered one for my daughters apartment in college, they'll love it).

Look at the post immediately above yours about the milk frother.

So the machine works, and the double shot americano came out great. The milk container I just leave empty which works for me as all I make is espresso and americano.

My biggest gripe with it is the grinds get stuck on the bottom of where you insert the grind cup after each use. This causes the machine to leak water and grinds, after you make your coffee so you have to clean that and the insert each time

Take out the milk container, and reinsert it as firmly as possible. It is pretty hard to get all of the way in, and the indicator light status you describe is telling you it thinks the milk container isn't installed (or installed all of the way).

EDIT: I finished the cleanup, priming, and all of that and made a double espresso, followed by a cappuccino. The single and double cups on the Gourmia are definitely larger than on the Mt Coffee, and it makes a difference in strength for sure, and the taste is a bit more bitter on what comes out of the Gourmia than on the Mr. Coffee. It isn't obnoxious, just not as smooth. Still comparable to what comes from a chain coffee place, and I enjoyed them. Also, the Gourmia instructions say to set frother to "minimum" strength for cappuccino and "maximum" for latte, which is the opposite of how the Mr Coffee recommends. I followed the instructions and there indeed wasn't much froth (I like lots), so I am gonna try again here in a bit adjusted the other way. For those new to these kinds of machines, the frother adjustment is definitely something to play with to see what you enjoy.
Once I have made a few more to get the hand of the dosing on this new one, I will post pics comparing the two machines, including a cappuccino from each. I am not going to be able to sleep for three days, same thing happened when I first got the Mr Coffee LMAO.

You really have to push in the milk frother container until you hear it click into place. Then the other options light up.

To remove the milk frother container you have to tilt it up slightly before it will disengage and you can remove it.

I made a double espresso using the Illy coffee. Pretty good, no obvious bitterness. Perfect temperature.

After dinner I made a cappuccino with Medaglia D'Oro decaf and it was delicious. More than happy with this and if it lasts a year or two I'll be very pleased.

This machine is indeed cheaply made, especially the portafilter, never seen one so flimsy. BTW, my three ears bottomless portafilter doesn't fit as the ears are too thick... Yet to try it. This will be my toy. Smilie

Yes the portafilter very cheap. Cast metal with flimsy cheap plastic handle. But the machine works well for $40.
