Seems like a pretty good price. I have this doorbell and like it reasonably well. I have older Blink cameras that have free 14 second cloud videos, but the doorbells only work with Sync Module 2 without a subscription, where you use a flash drive to save them. Only downside is accessing clips within the app, my local storage clips (USB, doorbell, no sub) are separate from the rest of my cameras. Just one tab/click but still wish they were together.

I bought this blink doorbell in July to replace my Ring doorbell and not have to pay Ring's monthly subscription fees. It's ok. It works, but not as good as Ring. It is very slow to connect to the app and you can't talk to someone at your front door because the delay is too long. Other than that, I like it.

I also bought the blink cameras and honestly don't really like them. They record for 30 seconds only when movement is in front of them. It sends your phone a movement notification which can be annoying. The other option is to turn movement recording off or shut off notifications. It's tricky to not have them recording frequently when placed in front of your house which drains the battery. Lithium AA batteries are also expensive and I had to change mine every 2 months. Viewing the recordings on my phone from the sync module is extremely slow and painful- especially when you're trying to review 10 or more 30 second videos. Deleting a video takes about 15 seconds. The sync module also has trouble recording 2 cameras videos at once. I've noticed missing recordings or cut off recordings. Maybe your needs are different but I would prefer cameras that record all the time.

Quality HD, IR, motion detection settings really drain your batteries. You could go through batteries in a few days if you live in a high traffic (people, cars) area. I live in a big city and keep my settings at the recommended low settings and have to replace batteries monthly.

Yea, if you put these in high-traffic areas, expect the batteries to drain. Of course, you can always figure out a way to run a USB cable to these to power them constantly - sort of defeats the purpose of the original intent of these (which was to be able to place them in locations that wires can't reach or are less accessible for wiring) but the use case is there to power them constantly if needed. One of my friends has his setup this way and it has been working out well for him. I'd say if there's a high traffic area you need to put a camera in, try your best to figure out a way to run wiring to power it because regardless of the camera you use (unless it can be solar powered) you're going to have the same issue with eating through batteries.

The recording issue is definitely irritating - aside from it taking forever to load when live viewing or whatever, you also can't access live view WHILE the camera is in the process of recording. These are things you'd think they would have figured out and resolved by now but nope. I'm not planning on buying any more of these until they've resolved those issues. For my current purposes and needs, they work OK for me. I pretty much set up cameras randomly around the house when we leave for vacation but always have one posted above our door to record an additional angle and during our sleeping hours.

Agree on frustrating issues and features. The ONLY advantage to buying Blink over other systems is the free local storage option. If you are willing to pay for a cloud storage subscription, look elsewhere.

Yea the free local storage option is definitely nice. Not sure that makes up for all the shortcomings lol. If I were to look at camera systems today (if I didn't already have a Blink system) I'd probably look elsewhere. I bought into the hype early on in hopes they'd make good improvements and that turned out to be a bad gamble...

My battery life is the pits. CS is excellent and they are willing to send you a new set. I explained to them that temperature, settings, etc. will affect battery life, agreed, but what does not make sense is that one battery is drained and not the other. I noticed one is at 0.3V and the other at 1.4 V. It must be a hardware problem. Batteries in series must drain at the same rate.
So they sent me a replacement door bell because they have "upgraded" the firmware. Same issues. Unfortunately not very consistent. My next move is to connect to the electrical power of the old door bell.
Yes, battery is my main beef.

I was under the impression that the hardwiring for doorbell units is only to enable you to use the existing hardwired chime that you may have at your house, and not to actually power the unit...unless they changed something?

Blink system is barely acceptable. I recommend getting some thing else that has a working human detection and ability to ignore certain areas covered by the camera. I would only use this if this was close to free

I upgraded to this from the Ring 1 camera, had to buy the extra sync module to view live stream. Honestly the first gen ring was so much better and easier to use. This thing starts recording as people are walking away with my stolen packages and I have the sensitivity turned up. And my walkway to the front door is at least 15 feet.

I am on the blink platform as well. We have their floodlight outside of our garage and the damn squirrels are constantly running across the driveway setting off my notifications. Annoying asf..

The newer sync modules are enabled so that the USB port can utilized to accept a USB flash drive or microSD adapter. In the app there is an option with the new sync modules to select local storage. This only works if you don't already have an active subscription AFAIK.
