Unless you are doing a ton of heavy deadlifts, this is a much better deal.

Honestly prefer the bumper plates, personally. This is a better deal per pound, but you can get 260lbs of bumpers for $200 and the bar for $40. Cast iron makes a ton more noise. Really does depend on use and priority. Bumper plates typically cost a lot more per pound as well. So it is a better deal when comparing to "normal" prices.

I picked up some bumper plates from wally world a few months ago. I like them but them have a oily finish to them. When that wears off, they will be perfect. I like these for normal bench related exercises and the price is right!

Will these rust if left outside in a covered carport in Florida? Should I get the bumper plates instead?

Yes, the humidity will still cause the cast iron ones to rust. Bumper plates would be a better option if rust is a concern.

Agree. I think I paid $300 for this twice between 2020 & 2021 at Dicks Sporting Goods.

I believe the price topped out at $400.

Back to pre covid pricing. These 45s are a bit smaller in diameter compared to other brands so keep that in mind. Also bar is not worth for heavy lifts, save for curls or landmines.

Wow. I did a double take because I haven't seen 300 pound set for $200 in ages.

Even if it may or may not be the most precise accurate weight per plate, it is still a very good deal.

The balance bumper set is on sale for $300. I go to commercial gym with those fancy expensive plates. Even when I deadlift, I don't use bumper plates. I don't mind noise of plates though in my garage gym. It gives it the old school vibe. I prefer the $200 because I like the smaller plate. It looks odd for me to see bumper plates on a barbell for bench press. I believe in use the right tool for the job.

Like I said, depends on use and priority. Have a household with kids and lift at night in the basement. Anything to make things quiet is better. If someone wants bumpers for deadlift I can't fathom also buying cast iron plates for benching. 1 type does it all.

Bumper plates for the Olympic lifts. Otherwise, these are what you need.
