Please consider a Roku or fire stick for $30. Smart tvs generally have bad UI and are slow for the smart functions. Even though this deal has a firetv inside you will probably have a better user experience with an add on device.

IMO buy a TV to display stuff. Buy a device to generate your content.

I'm an old guy, sitting about perhaps 7-8' away from my TV stand which will probably barely accommodate this TV, and I'm not particular about all the minute details/pixels/what-have-you. My present TV is a 37" Vizio, nigh unto 10 years old, and I need a smart TV for my nephew to hook-up to the internet. Any reason I should look elsewhere, please? Repped, OP.

That's not what I am saying, buy a TV to be a good TV then buy a $30 device to connect your streaming services. User experience will likely be better.

In general I agree with you but in this case the Roku is 30% of the price of the tv. Is that worth it? I don't think so.

My first TV was a 40" LG at around $600. Not smart, plasma, and I hooked up a Roku. Still going strong in the den. I wonder how many years ago that was? Now a smart TV for $100 for the same size. Some things do come down in price a lot.

I have a cheap lil tv like this for my treadmill. You don't need a firestick or none of that. What you need is a soundbar. These leakers are terrible on cheap tvs.
