For anyone who doesn't know how it works. There is a microphone in it and depending on how loud the noise your baby makes is, it will respond by rocking at different speeds and playing varying levels of white noise to calm the baby down. It's actually incredible how quickly it responds and then goes back to a gentle or no rocking as soon as the baby calms down. There were countless nights when without it we would have had to get up and calm the baby down, but this thing did it instead. Ended up getting much more sleep over the 5ish months we used it.
I think we bought ours for around this much and sold it for 900 maybe. If you buy one in good condition used and don't destroy it, you will most likely be able to get all or most of your money back.
We plan on getting another one if whenever we have another kid.
Oh, and congrats on the baby! Mine turns 1 week old tomorrow.

-dad of almost 11 month old who suddenly started to wake up 1-4 times during the night about 2 months ago
Good luck out there my fellow parents of newborns and infants
- Deliriously under-slept parents are also dangerous for children. Getting parents even an hour more sleep over the course of the night can lead to better decisions.
- Not everyone has family nearby to help, or family equipped to handle newborn stage. Maternity and paternity leaves can be abysmal. Sometimes both parents are working full-time. So others' situations may be extremely different from your own and cause people to need different solutions than what worked for you, and that's okay.
- Yes, in the early days you should absolutely still wake your baby to eat at your doctor's recommendation if they are not waking on their own. My fella was a great sleeper and we had to wake him to eat. Our pediatrician gave the green light to not wake him anymore, and to follow his lead, at the 8-week appointment. He was sleeping 8 hour stretches at 8 weeks and still followed his growth curves and had zero concerns from his doctor. We went to all checkups. His growth curves match his dad's as a baby.
- The most benefit of the Snoo was reducing the amount of time it took to get baby back to sleep after a night-time feed. A few snuggles and a little rocking, then the Snoo takes it from there.
- You can disable louder sounds and faster movements. We did. Whatever works for you and your baby.
- Flat head is not a problem specific to Snoo. Babies started getting more flat heads along with the back-to-sleep campaign. But the medical community agrees that back-to-sleep saves lives and is worth the additional risk of some flat head. Like others have mentioned, baby can still move head side to side in Snoo. My baby did not get flat head.
- Snoo is FDA approved.
- My mom passed when my son was 11-weeks and we had to fly across the country with no notice. My son had no trouble transitioning to a regular bassinet. We went on vacation again at 4 months and again he slept fine in the travel crib. We wondered how much of his good sleeping was really due to Snoo since he slept well in regular bassinets - but the Snoo was essentially free so who cares.
- My son is now 2 and has zero bad long term sleep habits. He falls asleep independently, sleeps the whole night through. Has only had one major regression of ~2 weeks around 18 months when he was cutting 4 molars, another tooth, had a viral infection with fever, and had just started a new daycare. The transition from the Snoo at 6 months wasn't a big deal and just took a couple weeks of adjustment - used the Snoo weaning feature and it worked as intended.
- My baby would not sleep anywhere but on one of us during the day (would not sleep in the Snoo during the day). Lots of baby wearing. It was hard at first but we loved the special snuggles.
- Every single baby is different. Some will not take to the Snoo. Others won't have as good of sleepers but will still get some benefit. Some will have a harder time with transitions. At the end of the day, there are ways to get a Snoo cheap or free when you resell, and if given the chance for more sleep during those early days I would definitely take it since the risk and cost is low with the resale market.
For those of us who have actually used the product, it really isn't as controversial as some people are making it seem. It seems like a lot of people who believe that because they had to go through something super hard, they want everyone else to suffer just as much. Look, even with the Snoo the newborn phase is really, really hard. An extra hour of sleep makes it a little better.- Snoo: https://www.happiestbab

2nd baby = toss it in the crib like an empty can of beer, say good luck, put ear plugs in
Don't worry about shooting off low-ball offers on Marketplace... There were several SNOOs listed in my area and people are trying to free up cash for the holidays. Mine was originally posted for $950 and worked them down to the stated $600.
